With 218bhp, Rooney's hot hatch rockets from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 150mph

04 February 2008

Last month we reported footballer Steven Gerrard’s Range Rover Sport was for sale on Auto Trader. Within an hour of reading the story Liverpool fan Harjinder Johal had snapped up the England star’s car.

But there are plenty more celebrity-owned cars for sale on Auto Trader. Adrian Hearn rounds up six of the best, in ascending order of price.

Paul Scholes’ Mercedes S500 – £17,995

With a 5-litre V8 engine, Paul Scholes’ old Mercedes S500 boasted power along with a host of luxuries.

Accelerating from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and hitting 155mph, Scholes’ German saloon features heated leather seats, all-round electrics, a six-CD sound system and bi-xenon headlights.

Costing more than £60,000 new, you can get your hands on the 2002 model for £17,995.

Wayne Rooney’s 2006 Mini GP - £18,975

For a 22-year-old, Manchester United star Wayne Rooney (pictured top right) has had a car collection to make even the most seasoned petrolhead weak at the knees having owned a host of supercars including Lamborghinis and Aston Martins.

But you can get your hands on his more humble Mini GP – a meaner version of the hot Mini Cooper S.

With 218bhp, the hot hatch rockets from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 150mph.

To improve the handling, BMW removed the rear seats to make it lighter and fitted a sports suspension and uprated brakes.

Powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine, Calzaghe’s Merc accelerates from 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.

Calzaghe is the only owner of the Mercedes SL350 which is on the market for £31,995.

But if you’re looking for one of Wrighty’s old cars and want something a bit more discreet, have a look at his old Mercedes SL500 which is for sale on Auto Trader.

With a 5.5-litre V8 under the bonnet chucking out 388bhp and 391lb/ft of pulling power, the Mercedes accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds and has a limited top speed of 155mph.
