Sideways BMW breaks world record
17 September 2009
Vijay Pattni brings you the strangest car feats from the Guinness Book of World Records.
Open its hallowed pages and you’ll find news about the world’s hardiest dog; run over by a car, shot in the head and then frozen – only to wake up two hours later.
Keep flicking through and you’ll read about the world’s longest sausage roll, measuring a whopping 364ft – not a record to be snorted out, we think you’ll agree.
Then there’s the British man who holds the record for the world’s loudest burp – a gut-busting monster which measured 104.9dB on a noise level meter. For perspective, a jet-aircraft at take-off measures 110dB.
Yes – it’s that time of year that the annual Guinness Book of World Records is released, compiling the wonderful and weird extremities which men, women, dogs, cats, frogs and anything or anybody else cares to accomplish.
And there are some cracking new car-related entries for this year – including the world’s fastest lawnmower.
But here at Auto Trader we’re generous. So not only are we bringing you the car records for 2010 – we’re giving you the best car-related Guinness World Records we can get our hands on!
There’s even a Weird World of Wheels entrant in there too – a man we spoke to earlier this year who chavved-up a Postman Pat children’s toy ride and gave it a joy ride…
