Each trim level is well equipped with plenty of kit as standard.
The entry-level S trim offers key safety equipment as standard, with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), an Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and Traction Control (ASR) all included.
It also boasts electric front windows, daytime running lights and an mp3 compatible stereo system.
Move up to Moda specification and Volkswagen adds 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome detailing inside and out and body-coloured mirrors and door handles.
Passengers will also enjoy ipod connection to the stereo, a split/folding rear seat and rear electric windows on the five-door version.
Both S and Moda trim levels have an ‘A/C’ version, which adds a semi-automatic air conditioning system.
The SE trim level offers aircon as standard and also gives drivers remote central locking, a variable boot height and a space-saver spare wheel.
The top of the range SEL boosts the alloy wheels on offer up to 16-inches and ups the luxury on the inside.
A front centre armrest, leather-trimmed steering wheel and a tyre-pressure monitor are all included as standard with the SEL.
An alarm is also included to keep the Polo that bit safer.
The options list offers owners the chance to personalise their car with many features normally associated with much larger cars.
Parking sensors, satellite navigation, Alcantara leather seats and Bluetooth teleohone connection all appear on the list.
The six engines offer a blend of power and economy and will be joined by a hugely efficient 1.2-litre diesel Bluemotion and a high-powered GTI in 2010.
