It's Tyre Safety Month!

To celebrate, May Starey and Dom Sacco present an essential tyre safety video with tips from TV’s motoring expert Quentin Willson.

Hundreds of accidents could be avoided for just 20p, according to road safety organisation TyreSafe. Find out how in the video above.

More tyre tips

1. Check your tyre pressure once a week and before every long journey.
2. Give tyres a visual inspection for any cuts or bulges and remove any stones or objects embedded in the tread.
3. When buying used tyres, use the 20p technique as explained in the video to ensure tread depth is at least 3mm.

What’s the law?

Tyre tread on cars must be at a minimum of 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread, around its entire circumference.
Drivers with illegal tyres can be fined up to £2,500 and three penalty points for each tyre.
