A Tyrannosaurus Rex, rising flood waters, Jade Goody… A 1,500lb wrecking ball would also be most unwelcome. That's what Pennsylvania resident Alex Habay saw after his Ford Taurus was written-off by a bouncing sphere of destruction. The ball had broken free from a crane being used to demolish a nearby college, rolled down a hill towards the town centre, and hit Mr Habay's car as he sat at traffic lights. Mr Habay said: "All of a sudden, the back windshield exploded and I hit the car in front of me." Police told the 20-year-old he was saved by eight footballs resting on his back seat which had lessened the impact. And speaking of things you wouldn't want to see in your rear view mirror…
This brings 'taking without the owner's consent' to a whole new level. A Liverpool man has been sentenced to 200 hours of community service, fined £45 and banned from driving for a year for taking a Warrior tank and driving it over a white Vauxhall. Jack Carroll took the vehicle at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, while staying with a friend on the barracks. The 22-year-old's downfall? Allowing his friends to video the crime. Prosecutor David Tucker said: "The recording ends with the driver of the Warrior vehicle quite plainly gleeful at what he'd just done." Lorry seems to be the hardest word Reactions to driving mishaps. Calmly and rationally assessing the situation – good. Bursting into tears – bad. The latter was the chosen option of an unnamed Slovenian lorry driver en route from Wales to Dover, whose sat-nav directed him off the motorway and through a narrow village street. His vehicle became so badly wedged between two buildings it could only be moved a couple of inches in either direction. Onlooker Mark Siggers said: "When he got out of his cab and realised he was stuck, he burst into tears." A crane had to be hired to free the lorry. Weird Pic of the Week: Heavy load
It's not just the huge amount of plywood that exploded the rear tyres of this car and destroyed the shock absorbers, but also the ten bags of concrete on the back seat. Thanks to Chris Warren for sending in the photo. Got any photos you think we should feature as Weird Pic of the Week? Send them to us now at editorial@autotrader.co.uk. Video: Knight time There are a few K.I.T.T. replicas knocking around, but this guy takes the award for extra effort and dedication to the show Knight Rider. An amazing amount of work must have gone into this car. Click the play button below to see for yourself.
