Send them to us at editorial@autotrader.co.uk. This week: Luck bypass Be careful what you wish for – you might just get it. Councillor Jim Burley from Pegswood, Northumberland campaigned for 30 years to have a £9million bypass built to make his village safer. He was also the first person to have an accident on it. The 70-year-old was in collision with a van which was overtaking oncoming traffic. Councillor Burley said: "I honestly thought we were going to be killed. My van was spun around and I finished up facing the direction I'd come from. My wife took the brunt of it." Gone in 600 seconds There's a long waiting list for Focus STs. When you get one, be careful with it. Don’t get it trashed it in ten minutes. Like Roger Robinson did. The Basingstoke resident's ST careered down an embankment having been hit in the slow lane of the M3 - just minutes after he'd taken delivery of the car. Mr Robinson, who will have to get to the back of the queue for a new ST, said: "I'm totally gutted. But it could have been worse - I could have been hurt."
The Automobile Association. The fourth emergency service. But they're not supposed to cause the emergencies. An AA driver left his van on a steep hill in Liversedge, West Yorkshire - but forgot to put the handbrake on. As the scatter-brained patrolman looked on, the van rolled down the hill into Jack and Susan Brooke's Ford Orion. And their front wall. And their garage. Mr Brooke said: "It was a brilliant car. I don’t know what we'll do without it." The AA have agreed to pay for the damage.
