This week: Badger on the line Leaves, the wrong type of snow, derailments - all these things cause trains to be late. But train services into London were disrupted this week by a flaming badger. The deceased mammal lay on the line near Tonbridge in Kent. The unfortunate animal had caught fire after being electrocuted on a live rail, and would reignite every time a train passed. The fire service was alerted to the trackside blaze, and arrived on the scene to extinguish the badger. Watch manager Peter Brown said: "Thankfully I should think it died very quickly of electrocution, and did not suffer. The flames would die down but when another train passed the wind would cause the fire to start up again."
Motorist Jon Llewlyn saw a wild rabbit near his car one morning, but thought nothing more of it as he set off on a 60 mile drive. Three American women were shocked to find a snake in their car when they made a trip to Walmart one afternoon. The women enlisted the help of the emergency services and bystanders in an effort to get the snake out of the car. The increasingly extreme measures which various good Samaritans take to try and coax the reptile out of the car are particularly entertaining. Click the play button below to start the clip.
