Ariel Atom
£38,950

The Ariel Atom represents driving in its purest form. There’s no radio, boot, windscreen or roof. But there’s a lively engine fitted to a sublime chassis, which makes it as close to driving a superbike as you’ll get on four wheels.

It accelerates from 0-60mph in less than four seconds and has a top speed of around 140mph.

Belsize
£28,500

This isn’t just the only 1919 Belsize 15HP available for sale on Auto Trader – it’s the only model left in the world. The bright green classic is in concourse condition, and has been looked after for 17 years by its dedicated owner.

Belsize Motors was a Manchester based company, producing as many as 50 cars a week and employing 1,200 staff before the First World War.

Datsun 240Z
£34,999

Nissans were called Datsuns in 1969 when the 240Z was unveiled to the world at the Tokyo motor show. It was a daring new sports car aimed squarely at the US market and featured a 2.4-litre 6-cylinder engine pumping out 151bhp.

Its fantastic balance gave it great handling, and its performance was on a par with more exotic Jaguars and Porsches of the day, making it an instant classic.

Jensen Interceptor

SSC Ultimate Aero TT
£399,950

Auto Trader has the world’s fastest car for sale – the SSC Ultimate Aero TT – capable of 257mph. It’s the only one in the UK, and its £400,000 asking price makes it seem cheap compared to the £830,000 253mph Bugatti Veyron.

To achieve such unbelievable speeds the 6.2-litre V8 with twin-turbochargers pumps out a massive 1,183bhp. Say hello to 60mph in just 2.78 seconds.

Maybach 62
£149,950

The Maybach 62 is Mercedes’ answer to the Rolls Royce Phantom – a huge car where its owner is more likely to be found in the rear than behind the steering wheel. This Maybach is 6.2 metres in length, hence its name, and has so much rear leg room the two rear seats can be laid flat and used to sleep on.

The amount of equipment fitted inside this palace-on-wheels is mind-boggling and includes televisions, advanced climate control, a fridge, a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting.

Aston Martin DB5
£174,995

Arguably the coolest car of all time is for sale on Auto Trader – an immaculate 1964 Aston Martin DB5. The model which starred in no less than five James Bond cars was fitted with an ejector seat, bullet proof screen and radar.

While this particular model does without these gadgets, its interior has just been re-trimmed and its engine re-built and serviced – so it’s fighting fit.

Alfa Romeo SZ
£17,000

The Alfa Romeo SZ was built in 1989 and is still an amazing sight today – with its highly original and outlandish design. A joint collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Italian design house Zagato, less than 40 were sold in the UK.

It’s not all show and no go either – power is fed to the rear-wheels by a 210bhp 3-litre V6 and handling was taken care of by advanced ‘self-levelling’ suspension. This is arguably the most exotic car you’ll find for £17,000

Dax Rush Cosworth
£26,000

This Dax Rush was built to accelerate faster than any other 2-litre car in existence. Powered by a turbocharged Cosworth engine rated at 430bhp and sending power to all four wheels, it has been recorded leaping from 0-60mph in 2.48 seconds and 0-100mph in 6.6 seconds.

Unfortunately it was disqualified from the Guinness Book of Records category because too few were built for it to class as a production road car. It has covered less than 1,000 miles and can be yours for £26k.

BMW Z8 Roadster
£85,995

Originally a concept car, unveiled at the 1997 Tokyo motor show, the BMW roadster caused such a sensation they decided to build a limited run of Z8s. Most found there way into American hands – hardly surprising considering its thumping 4.9-litre V8 and Boulevard cruising styling.

Due to its limited production, most BMW Z8 parts were finished by hand and the hardtop fitted to this car was designed from the start to perfectly suit the lines of the car.
