Auto Trader's multi-million supercar showroom
02 November 2009
Vijay Pattni takes a peek inside the UK’s biggest supercar showroom: Auto Trader.
Now, we’re not ones to jump on the ‘Christmas comes early’ bandwagon, but with this level of automotive excellence on offer, what the hell.
“Readers – Christmas has come early on Auto Trader!”
You may or may not be aware, but thanks to Captain Credit Crunch and his wallet-busting spandex pants, the used car market is literally bulging with bona-fide supercars just waiting to take your money and give you a ride.
And we’ve decided to give you a little pre-Christmas treat by rounding up the hottest supercars on offer.

Now admittedly, a lot of this is subjective. You might look at a near £290,000 used Lamborghini as “not-a-great-offer”, and you’d be kind of right. At the price of a house, a 300-grand Lambo doesn’t scream thrift.
But with thousands knocked off and used examples covering miniscule mileage, if you’re in the market for a dream machine there’s never been a better time to buy.
There are hundreds of supercars up for grabs on the site, but we’ve detailed our personal favourites…
Porsche Carrera GT
There’s no mistaking this mid-engined Porsche supercar – a 5.7-litre V10 engine wrapped up as a metal-skinned supermodel with bark, bite and balls big enough to scare the very best.
With an epic 600bhp and 435lb/ft of pulling power, the sexiest Porsche ever accelerates from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds before hitting a 205mph top speed. Porsche also claims this engine isn’t even at full chat, hinting at power figures above 800bhp…
And how’s this for exclusivity? We’ve got just one Porsche Carrera GT for sale on Auto Trader.

Bugatti Veyron
No supercar showroom would be complete without a Veyron – arguably the world’s most famous high performance machine…and possibly the best engineered automobile in history.
An eight-litre, 16 cylinder engine with four turbochargers produces an almighty 1,001bhp, a 0-62mph time of just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 253mph.
We’ve even got Formula One world champion Jenson Button’s Bugatti Veyron for sale on the site – still registered in his name.

Farbio GTS
A new entry into the British supercar hall of fame, the diminutive Farbio is a lightweight, low-volume supercar produced by an independent British company based in Wiltshire, knocking out one car per week.
A mid-mounted 3-litre Ford V6 churning out 260bhp may not scream ‘supercar’, but throw in the Farb’s 0-62mph time of 4.8 seconds and low weight of around one tonne, and you have a winner on your hands.
Plus you’ve got the exclusivity – there’s no worry about turning up to a party only to find three other people have it, because we’ve got just one for sale on the site.

Ferrari F40
No other supercar can scream beauty and violence as much as the Ferrari F40.
A poster child for the power-mad 1980s, the F40 was built as a testament to Ferrari’s all-encompassing greatness, packing a 3-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 470bhp.
With a lightweight body made mainly from Kevlar and carbon-fibre, the F40 could hit 60mph from rest in around 3.5 seconds and was the first road-legal production car to hit 200mph.
For this performance, prestige – and outright power – you will require a hefty amount of wedge however. Prices on Auto Trader start from around £250,000…

Koenigsegg CCR
Jeremy Clarkson famously said driving one helped him to quit smoking – if a little expensive…
Step forward the brainchild and passion of Christian von Koenigsegg: a young entrepreneur who made stacks of cash on money markets and then returned to his native Sweden to indulge in his love of high-performance and weapons-grade machinery.
The CCR uses a twin-supercharged 4.7-litre V8 engine built by Koenigsegg to produce a maximum of 806bhp, meaning a 0-62mph time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 240mph.
One of the world’s very fastest cars – behind the Veyron and SSC Ultimate Aero TT – the CCR is a truly bonkers machine.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 Super Veloce
You can’t really have a proper motor show without unveiling a new Lamborghini, and the 2009 Geneva show didn’t disappoint.
Unveiled with dramatic effect, the stunning new Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 Super Veloce is a mouthful of a supercar with the trousers to match.
It houses a 6.5-litre V12 engine developing 670bhp sent to all four wheels, meaning a 0-62mph time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 212mph, making it the fastest production Lamborghini to date.
We’ve got just one SV for sale on the site, and you can have this last hurrah for the mad Murcielago for just £290,000.
