Car Videos: Bentley Continental does 206mph – on ice - News image
Four-times World Rally champion Kankkunen took the Bentley up to 206mph

Welcome to Adrian Hearn’s Car Videos of the Week.

We’ve been trawling the web for some classic motoring clips, from the funny to the plain unbelievable.

This is what we found…

Bentley Continental does 206mph on ice
The Bentley Continental GT – driven by footballers, city boys and bonkers rally drivers.

And the latter are the only ones who will drive the British supercar at speeds of up to 206mph – on 60cm-thick ice.

Earlier this year Makela Auto Training took a Bentley Continental to an area of frozen sea off the coast of Finland and got four-times World Rally champion Juha Kankkunen to see just how fast he could go.

With the engine untouched, the only differences to a standard 198mph Bentley Continental GT were special tyres and a few aerodynamic tweaks.

With the temperature at -30 degrees centigrade, the Bentley had to run on a different type of fuel which, combined with the cold air entering the turbochargers enhanced the Bentley’s performance.

The result was a top speed of 206mph and an average of 200mph – beating the Bugatti EB110 Supersport’s previous record of 184mph.

And at this speed it stopped in just 500 metres – half the stopping distance of a typical car doing 70mph on ice.

Check out the amazing footage below:

Pimp my ride for 50 Cents
Rap star 50 Cent loves his cars.

In previous music videos he’s driven some of the world’s most exotic supercars and even SUVs with suicide doors.

Now he’s customised a Pontiac G8, fitting a 7-litre engine, which produces a whopping 500bhp.

As with most hip-hop stars he needed some serious ICE, so he fitted an ear-splitting 800 watt sound system to the American saloon.

Wheel embarrassment from The Weird World of Wheels
Dragsters have huge amounts of power transferred to the rear wheels.

But it’s important to attach the wheels to the car.

The Camel Trophy from Look at the Wheels on That
The Camel Trophy is one of the toughest off-road competitions.

But Land Rovers – with their incredible durability – can go pretty much anywhere.

And this Land Rover Discovery simply loves the hardcore challenge.
