David Beckham is the world’s most famous sportsman. And he’s owned some of the world’s most famous motors.
As the England hero leaves Spain for US side LA Galaxy, Adrian Hearn looks at the sarong wearing star’s best cars.
David Beckham has had a rollercoaster 12 months. He’s captained England, been dropped by the Three Lions and recalled to star his country’s last two games.
And in the middle he signed a £128 million five-year contract with LA Galaxy.
This is what you could buy with Beckham’s £128 million.

Aston Martin DB7 The DB7 was one of the most beautiful cars of the Nineties, so Beckham’s registration plate was DB7 - to match his initials and his shirt number at Manchester United. Powered by a whopping 6-litre V12, the Aston accelerates from 0-60mph in just 5 seconds before topping out at 185mph.

BMW M3 As a prodigal talent, Beckham bought an M3 in 1996. Not bad for a 21-year-old.The rising star’s Beemer accelerated from 0-60mph in six seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. In 2005, this M3 was sold in an auction for £90k.
Cost new: £33,850 Time to earn: 11 hours
Ferrari 550 Maranello This 5.5-litre Prancing Horse gallops from 0-62mph in a torso-twisting 4.5 seconds before running out of steam at 199mph. In 2005 Beckham turned down a free 550 from Ferrari, because he “already had one back in England.”

Hummer H2
This gas-guzzling monster weighs nearly three tons and does about 12 miles to the gallon. The H2 – loaded with £18k of extras - boasts a 6-litre V8 engine which produces 325bhp. It can tow more than three tons – which should be enough to transport Posh’s wardrobe.
Cost new: £58,000 Time to earn: 20 hours
Lamborghini Gallardo
This gorgeous Italian supercar accelerates from 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds thanks to a 5-litre engine which produces 500bhp. The 192mph car costs £121,000 new – which will take Beckham just over a day and a half to accrue when he moves to LA.

Lincoln Navigator
The unwritten rule in football is that every professional MUST own a pimped-up SUV. Beckham’s Navigator produces 300bhp and does 28mpg. Stateside they’re just as popular - with showbiz stars Shaq, Britney Spears and Becks’ best mate P Diddy all owning models.

BMW X5
Beckham splashed out £100k on his armour-plated X5. He was forced to buy the customised motor after an alleged attempt to kidnap his son Brooklyn. In April 2006 last year the car the car was stolen. But fast forward to April this year and the car was back in the news after an X5 – allegedly Beckham’s – was spotted being driven as an official government car by Macedonian politician Gordana Jankulovska. Police spokesman Ivo Kotevski said: “Before it reached Macedonia, the vehicle had changed hands 20 times in Spain, so we have no proof that it belonged to Beckham.”

Audi Q7
When Audi saw Beckham’s X5 had been taken they offered the midfielder a brand new, top of the range, fully-loaded Q7. The 4.3-litre SUV produces 325bhp, accelerating from 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 154mph.
Cost new: £50,000 Time to earn: 17 hours
GMC Yukon Denali
The midfielder’s American SUV was customised with dark blue Italian leather, a top-of-the-range entertainment system and spinning alloy wheel covers. And when the monster motor was offered for sale on Auto Trader earlier this year it was quickly snapped up for its £30,000 price tag.

If he wants to settle into the Hollywood fraternity, he’ll have to go green. A-listers including Will Ferrell, Cameron Diaz and Leonardo Di Caprio all own the big selling hybrid.
