Top five big boots for Christmas presents
Dominic Sacco looks at the top five cars with the biggest boots.
The 2003 Coupe Cabriolet Megane boasts a class-leading 490 litres of luggage space with the roof open, offering decent space for a good gifting session with the added bonus of a breeze in your beard (wrap up warm…).
If you’re really serious about fitting a sleigh-load of presents in your car, then the Range Rover Sport may be the luxury SUV for you. With a standard 958 litres of boot space, you’ll be able to carry gifts for the kids, and the rest of your family to boot. Fold the seats down and a jumbo 2,000 litres of space is available.
If Santa ever decides to trade in his sleigh he’ll probably buy a BMW M5 Touring. He needs to go pretty fast to deliver all those presents, and the M5 will do almost 200mph while carrying a maximum of 1,650 litres of luggage.
Using a top-selling hatchback to carry your gifts? You can’t do much better than the Ford Focus, with its easily accessible 350-litre hatchback boot. You’ll be fine as long as you don’t need to deliver any presents off-road.
If you really want to make an impression (and have £219,975 to spare), how about using a Rolls Royce Phantom as your Christmas sleigh? The boot is a reasonable 460 litres, and even with a chauffer at the wheel there’s still plenty of room for sacks of presents.
