Ultima GTR annihilates Koenigsegg CCX lap time on Top Gear track

The Ultima GTR is the new King of the Top Gear track after lapping the famous course in an incredible 1 minute 12.8 seconds – 4.8 seconds quicker than the Koenigsegg CCX.

This launches the Leicester-built supercar from 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds and on to a claimed top speed of 231mph.

While it looks like a track–only car, the Ultima GTR is road-legal and even boasts luxuries such as air-conditioning, leather seats and an adjustable suspension.

And the best bit? It costs £75,000 – that’s £375,000 LESS than the Koenigsegg.

But unfortunately the record won’t officially stand as it wasn’t the Stig behind the wheel of the Ultima.

Let’s hope the tame racing driver gets a chance to make the record official in the near future.

The Ultima GTR also holds the world record for doing 0-100-0mph – just 9.4 seconds.

The Ariel Atom from Look at the Wheels on That

Hot on the heels of the Ultima GTR as one of the fastest cars round the Top Gear track is the Somerset-built Ariel Atom.

Using a supercharged version of the Honda Civic’s Type-R engine, the lightweight Atom rocket from 0-60mph in 2.78 seconds – and sees the Top Gear track off in just 1 minute 19.5 seconds.

All for £34,000.

Stuart Milne loves the ‘Somerset Atom Bomb’ – especially for the fact Ariel boast about it being the car with ‘No Doors. No Screen. No Roof’.
