The Return of Top Gear

The Return of Top Gear - The Return of Top Gear

22 January 2007

It's Top Gear week! The dancing programmes are gone from our screens, singing shows are but a distant memory, and now it's time for the return of MAN TELLY.

Alex Eckford takes a look at the return of the show.

It would be like a world without Match of the Day. Without beer. Without pies.

Late last year it looked like the show might be gone forever, but thanks to Richard Hammond's remarkable recovery from his 288mph jet-powered dragster crash the saviour of Sunday night TV is returning to our screens.

Top Gear is back. To celebrate, we're kicking off our Top Gear week with a Trackside special - 'Who is the Stig?'. And there'll be loads more…

• An EXCLUSIVE Top Gear slide show
• The trailer for the news series (see below)
• Everything you need to know about Top Gear - 30 essential facts
• Look at the Wheels on That - Top Gear's perennial favourite - the Toyota Hilux
• A Weird World of Wheels Top Gear special - the funniest moments from the show

This series we'll be watching the intrepid trio attempt to resurface a road, send a rocket into space, tour America, make their own fuel, and invent a new 'sport' - Top Gear golf. And James May gets behind the wheel of a Bugatti Veyron.

And the series' first 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' is celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

Tune in on Sunday 28th January at 8pm on BBC 2 for your first helping. As a taster, click the play button below to see the trailer for the new series:
