Dealers are slashing thousands of pounds off new and used cars. Look for a green car bargain and you’ll save even more on tax and fuel.

We round up six of the best deals – with average savings of £7,452.

Ford Focus ECOnetic

Save: £5,411

The standard Ford Focus is a safe and agile family hatchback. But the 1.6 TDCi ECOnetic Focus is also a lean green machine which emits 114g/km of CO2 and costs just £35 per year to tax.

Motorpoint is offering the brand new Focus with ABS, alloy wheels, climate control and a CD player for £11,999.

Toyota Prius

Toyota’s eco-warrior – the Prius – is a hybrid car which emits 104g/km of CO2 and boasts an average fuel consumption of 65.7mpg.

Broadspeed is selling the top-of-the-range 1.5-litre T Spirit CVT Prius for £19,264 – almost £2,000 off the list price. Opt for a pre-reg version (which has been registered by a dealer with delivery miles on the clock) and you’ll save a total of £3,007.

Buyers who can’t wait for the sub-140g/km Vauxhall Insignia ecoFLEX to arrive this summer, the 2-litre Insignia Exclusiv CDTi is a reasonably fuel-efficient saloon.
