Every day hundreds of thousands put their trust in sat-nav systems. One couple who may be using printed maps in future are Tony Stead and Nicola Barton, who were to wed at the Camelot Castle Hotel in Tintagel, Cornwall. The sat-nav on the coach carrying the 41-year-old groom and 50 guests had recommended the vehicle take narrow country lanes to the hotel - so narrow, in fact, that the coach became stuck at the bottom of a steep hill four miles from the venue. Unable to get mobile phone reception (no pun intended) the guests employed locals from a nearby pub to ferry them to the church, where the bridegroom and six 'best women' were waiting. Mr Stead said: "We went down a very steep hill, the front dug into the tarmac and the back did the same, leaving the wheels spinning round in the air. I got out and realised we weren't going anywhere and I was getting worried, to put it mildly." The wedding went ahead as planned. Gore-y story If you're putting on what will potentially be the biggest series on concerts the planet has ever seen, the last thing you want is bad publicity. So this probably hasn’t helped Al Gore's staging of the Live Earth gigs this weekend. Former US vice-president Gore's son Al Gore III was arrested near San Diego, California for driving at 100mph.
Police spokesman Jim Amormino said: "He did not have a prescription for any of those drugs." The goods news for his pa? He was driving an eco-friendly Toyota Prius. Say it again, Sam There are a number of things which might make you swerve if you saw them by the roadside. A road cop dressed as Uncle Sam pointing a radar gun at your car is pretty high on the list. As part of their traffic enforcement efforts during 4th of July week the traffic department in Orange County, Florida decided to go the extra mile and dress one cop as the American icon. According to the police 275 on-the-spot fines were handed out last Monday. The department has previously sent out officers dressed as Santa's elves, the Grinch, and leprechauns.
