Two broken metatarsals, a record transfer fee and a relationship with the new Queen of WAGs Colleen McLoughlin has fired Rooney to the front of the British tabloids. To celebrate the star’s love for cars, Adrian Hearn brings you his best motors, and he’s had a few.

We’ve given each motor a ‘Rooney rating’ showing the car’s suitability for a world class footballer.

Ford SportKa - £11,300 (pictured below right)
Before signing a mega-money deal at Man UTD,  the 17-year-old rising star was given a Ford SportKa. The 95bhp motor accelerated from 0-60mph in 9.7 seconds and had a top speed of just 108mph.

VW Golf R32 - £24,240
The ultimate hot-hatch pumped with steroids enables a 0-60mph time of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.

Audi TT - £31,210
The German coupe has been a big seller since its unveiling in 1999, so Rooney had to have one. With a 0-60mph time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 155mph, it’s no slouch.

Mercedes SLK - £31,420
A present for Ms McLoughlin. The cute little convertible coupe is still seriously quick. Boasting a top speed of 155mph, the SLK races from 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds.

Chrysler 300C - £33,040 (pictured right)
This provocative looking, testosterone fuelled 5.7-litre V8 muscle car weighs more than two tonnes, but still rockets from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. The 300C accelerates all the way to 155mph before the computer kicks in, preventing it going any faster. With that weight and power, Wayne will need a nearby petrol station to refill the saloon, which does just 23mpg.

BMW M3 - £42,450
The ultimate sports coupe. Jaw-dropping looks, awesome handling, 0-60mph in just 5.5 seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph makes the M3 a dream car for most people, let alone a man barely out of his teens.

Cadillac Escalade - £44,895
An essential accessory for pimps, gangsters, seven-foot tall basketball players and Scouse footballers. Rooney’s massive SUV is powered by a 6-litre, 345bhp V8, which does 0-60mph in just 8.9 seconds, but has a combined fuel economy of just 18mpg.

BMW X5 - £50,070
BMW’s X5 is the benchmark car for a Cheshire resident and Wayne and Colleen are no different. The German 4x4 raised the bar for SUV performance when launched in 2000. With a top speed of 150mph, the X5 combines quickness and quality off-roading, but we doubt he gets it too muddy.

Porsche 911 - £72,840
Every footballer needs a Porsche and Rooney’s no different, but he gave this to his fiancée Colleen for her 19th birthday. With a top speed of 182mph and 0-60 in a frightening 4.9 seconds, the 911 is one of the best sports cars you can drive.

Range Rover Supercharged - £73,045
All American socialites carry dogs in their handbags and all professional footballers own a Range Rover. Rooney’s luxury 4x4 features TVs, a reverse parking camera and a top speed of 130mph. Brilliant off-road and superb on the road, the Range Rover is the ultimate 4x4.

Bentley Continental GT - £112,750
Rooney test drove the beautifully crafted Continental in his socks for JUST 10 minutes before parting with his hard-earned cash and giving it to Colleen. The 552bhp car rockets from 0-60mph in a blistering 4.7 seconds, before reaching a Crown Court visiting speed of 198mph.

Aston Martin Vanquish S - £177,100 (pictured right)
If you’ve got it, flaunt it and Rooney likes to flash the cash. The Vanquish is the ultimate British supercar. With a 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds and s top speed of 200mph, not much will catch the Aston. Quite simply one of the best looking cars ever produced.
