Bikes racing around the BMF Show’s main arena track have always been a popular feature, but this year the main arena will be host to a BMF Show first - the BMF Grand Prix, a specially arranged Short Track UK race series over the two days with the grand final on the Sunday. Now in its third year at the BMF Show, Short Track, a cross between supermoto and speedway racing, proved to be a hit from the start, as has the BMF’s infamous Moped Enduro race with this year’s grid fully booked. But the BMF Motorcycle Show is more than racing. Well established as Europe’s largest outdoor bike show with over 600 exhibitors and attendances regularly topping 80,000. All of the major manufacturers and suppliers expected to attend including Triumph, Honda, Yamaha, BMW, Harley-Davidson, Suzuki and Kawasaki plus top names from the clothing and accessory markets such Frank Thomas. Back in the arena will be The Royal Artillery Motorcycle Display Team, with their amazing displays of precision riding while elsewhere will be the Wall of Death and, new for this year, Extreme Globeriders, bike riding inside a wire mesh sphere! The BIS, Best in Show Competition, sponsored by Carole Nash Insurance, carries a top prize of £600 and one year’s free insurance for the winner. With a range of classes from Vintage to Modern, the BIS always has a top entry list. Music features in a big way this year and the brand new exhibition hall is the venue for a top line-up of live music sponsored by Bike Animal. The Bike Animal Stage will present an afternoon of live music open to all with a line up of competitors from last year’s Global Battle of the Bands. The BMF Show is on 17-18 May, 9am – 6pm, at the East of England Showground, Peterborough. Watch out for the speed camera van that is usually parked just before the entrance. Adult tickets cost £16 on the day. To find out more check out www.bmf.co.uk
