A group of pub-goers have rebuilt a classic Lambretta scooter to raise money for a hospice where a close friend passed away. And the band of bikers re-sprayed it in the colours of their favourite football team. Regulars at the King Edward Pub in It’s in aid of The John Taylor Hospice, which serves a population of over 400,000 in central, north and east The inspiration behind the Scooter was the late Paul Baldwin, who passed away at the Hospice in June at the age of 37. The King Edward’s licensee Lisa Dunne said: “Paul was one of our regulars and a keen Villa supporter. His friends and family were keen to help repay the kindness shown to them and Paul by the staff of the Hospice.” The scooter arrived as a heap of parts from India and has been lovingly restored by another of Paul’s closest friends, Michael Austin. And after Martin O’Neil’s team signed the scooter, a lucky fan has the chance of winning it in a prize draw. For just £5 you can get a ticket giving you a chance of winning the Lambretta – with the winner announced at the end of the season. Tickets can be obtained form the pub or at the reception at John Taylor Hospice in Page 1 |
