Tail End is Tops
|
03 September 2007 | |
The BMF’s Tail End event always has a party atmosphere, but as this year marks the tenth anniversary you can expect a brilliant weekend packed with bikes, music and bargain hunting. But before that comes daytime action with the spectacular racing of the UK Shorttrack Championships - and on the Sunday, a bit of fire walking! Taking place over the weekend of 15-16 September at the East of England Showground, Peterborough the fun runs from 9.0 to 5.0pm both days. This year Tail End will play host to the penultimate round of both the Shorttrack Championship and the Thunderbike Championship. Seen at the BMF Show in May, this series has proved a real hit with crowds throughout the UK and adds a new and exciting dimension to the day. See http://www.shorttrackuk.com for more. Stunt and display teams Bolddog Lings and the Solent Eagles bring bike action to the arena as will regular favourites Vintage Speedway and Moped Enduro. With over 60 teams competing at any one time, Moped Enduro is fast and very furious stuff! Away from the bike action, visitors will be able to do a bit of fire walking. The Women’s International Motorcycle Association (WIMA) are organising the biggest charity fire walk in the UK on Sunday with profits being split between BMF Foundation and the WIMA India Street Kids Project. WIMA need 120 firewalkers to break the UK charity fire walk record and there are prizes for the top fundraiser. Entrants must pre-book by texting 0780 873 9925 or emailing WIMA’s organiser, sheonagh.ravensdale@yahoo.co.uk. There’ll also be over 200 exhibitors covering trade and autojumble stalls plus another 50 stands put on by BMF clubs. As it's the last show of the season, many exhibitors will be offering top bargains to boot (pun intended!) as they clear their shelves of this year’s riding kit. There’s also a fairground and plenty of activities for kids of all ages with sideshows, simulators, and minimotos. On-site camping will again have a choice of live music venues covering everything from heavy metal, through hard rock to blues, soul, ska and pop. Bands already confirmed are regular favourites Leech and Tilted Smile with more to follow. The campsite opens at 2.0pm on Friday afternoon and the live music runs until midnight and then throughout the day on Saturday, again until midnight. Entry is £12, while kids pay £5. Family deals available. Page 1 |
