Derbi GPR 125 4S

Reviews image The leading Spanish manufacturer of lightweight motorcycles has come up with just the sort of bike that younger enthusiasts have been dreaming about.

The new GPR 125 is a motorcycle born out of Derbi’s experience in World Championship racing, but designed for everyday riding.

The soul of the new GPR 125 is the single cylinder liquid-cooled four-stroke engine. With a four-valve head the little Derbi develops a healthy 15hp, making it one of highest performing singles in its class.

The braking equipment is also top class, with a 300mm disc gripped by a two-piston radial brake caliper in the front and a single-piston caliper type at the back.

The chassis is a hollow perimeter double beam made of die-cast aluminum. The beams are screwed together onto the steering head, with the engine forming a structural component of the chassis.

At the rear is an asymmetric, variable-section swingarm that is engineering art. The monoshock absorber is directly connected, with no linkage, making for firmer and sportier handling.

An LCD digital screen incorporates the rev counter, the digital speedometer, fuel gauge, total and trip mileage counter and a clock.

With a super-slim fairing, a sexy seat, cast alloy wheels and upside down 40mm diameter fork tubes the GPR looks ready for a blast around the Jerez track.

Derbi has been in the motorcycle business for nearly 90 years and with its Red Bullets has 18 world titles to its name: eight constructors' championships and ten riders’ championships.

Since 2001, Derbi has been part of Piaggio Group, the largest two-wheeled vehicle manufacturer in Europe. Today, Derbi is still a market leader in the 50cc moped segment, and continues to make inroads into the 125cc market with street, off-road and racing bikes.
