Review: Honda VT750DC Shadow Spirit

16 November 2007
Reviews image Low and lean, cool and sporty, the shaft drive Shadow Spirit welcomes you to the cruising experience with comfortable proportions and strong, easily accessible riding performance.

Settle into its low, contoured seat, put your feet up and get ready for a blissful experience in every ride, forgetting all the cares of the day. Twist its throttle and the Spirit surges quickly up to speed or cruises lazily down the road with an appealing pulse of V-twin rumble.

Handling is smooth and easy, with raised handlebars giving you light and responsive control over the road ahead. All this and more makes the Shadow Spirit a deeply satisfying riding machine that opens whole new vistas of cruising enjoyment with eye-catching style and proven Honda reliability for the best fit and best styling at the best value money can buy!

Launched for the 2007 model year, the Shadow Spirit comes with longer and lower looks than the stock Shadow, and a new fuel-injection system.

The slim, aggressive cruiser form is highlighted by a large 21in wire-spoke front wheel, wide and long fuel tank and a short bobbed rear fender. A low gunfighter-style seat offers a comfortable ride and easy reach to the ground while short, semi-drag-style handlebars are positioned for easy reach and cool looks.

Want to stop in a hurry? You can rely on the large 296mm dual-piston calliper front disc brake and 180mm leading/trailing shoe rear drum brake.

The strong, torquey and responsive 52-degree V-twin engine is essentially the same unit used to power its 750cc predecessors, with performance tuned for stronger low-to-midrange torque and reduced peak power.

But the PGM-FI fuel injection system with dual injectors and IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) is new, for easy starts and smooth operation. Want to save the planet? The dual shotgun exhaust system features built-in oxygen sensors and catalyser elements for low emissions that meet EURO-3 regulations.

The Shadow Spirit comes with Honda’s Ignition Security System to stop anyone without the right ignition key riding away on your precious wheels.
