JCB Sets Record For Number Of Apprentices Graduating In 2019
JCB, the construction equipment and vehicle manufacturers, set a record this year for the number of apprentices completing the company’s apprenticeship scheme.

A total of 79 people passed their training and can now look forward to full-time positions at the Staffordshire digger-maker.
The record was announced just before the launch of National Apprenticeships week, a government-sponsored annual celebration of the nation’s apprenticeship community. The current crop of apprentices is the largest in the company’s history. JCB, founded by Joseph Cyril Bamford, took just nine apprentices during in 1964. But over the years, as the company grew, there was a need to train many more young and talented people for a wide variety of positions.

JCB Invests Heavily In Training
The company’s current chief executive, Graeme McDonald, said that, over the past five years, JCB invested more than £30 million into various training programmes and had seen more than 700 new recruits join the company.
The apprentices, who range in age from 18 to 38, have all been awarded full-time contracts. The company says that the current intake is a diverse group of people that includes a former professional rugby player and a pub landlord. JCB will host a special graduation ceremony for all those who have completed their apprenticeships at the firm’s world headquarters in Rochester. The company is keen to point out that, with the right attitude, anyone can join the team. JCB believes in giving regular people the opportunity to pursue great careers in its exciting and challenging work environment.
