Mitsubishi Carisma Hatchback 1999‑2004(14 reviews)
TRIGGER | 23rd October '17
I have had this car for over 5 years and it has never let me down. Comfortable to drive and has loads of room in the boot. Has been very economical for petrol, servicing and repairs apart from the £200 it cost for new exhast system.

This car is amazing, it's something you can rely on completely. I've been across the UK dozens of times + on holiday twice (1000 miles journey each way) with this car and it hasn't even had a scratch. An old, but reliable and great car! Get a Carisma...

Although the car is very cheap to drive (the petrol is only about £20 a week in daily use), it is expensive to tax (over £200 per year). It is extremely noisy, rattles and shakes a lot. My car has been very unreliable from the start, in that the warning light for emission has come on many times - sometimes with a reason, sometimes without. I've had to replace a lot of the parts, such as the ignition coils, exhaust pipe etc. The main problem I've had with this car is the noise - it is extremely noisy, despite having replaced the exhaust system. It feels as if going to break all the time, rattling and shaking all over the place even when only doing 50-60 mph. It's also very slow when it comes to uphills, despite its large engine.
However! It is cheap, it is spacious (the boot is HUGE!) and it has not let me down in snow - which is a huge bonus living in Scotland. It has taken in a band of five people with all of their band gear without moaning. It has the potential to be a great family car, if you don't mind the rattling and shaking.

Been driving for over 30 years - owned literally thousands of cars and without doubt, the most reliable all round everyday car ever owned.
owned for 4 years - sailed every MOT, absolutely brilliant .......if only other manufacturers could make cars like Mitsubishi.
If you find one you like, good history and everything works - dont hesitate to buy it....... regardless of mileage. They run forever.
Reluctantly sold mine with 133,000 miles on the clock and still as sweet as the day it was made.......... still good for another 133,000.

I really enjoyed driving this car with comfort and security. It is very reliable and spacious, good for mileage and maintenance.
I have no problem with this car. I have been driving since Feb 2008. Recently, I bought another car so selling it very cheap.

Tried & tested technology, engines are fairly bullet proof with plenty of power and drive beautifully.
Petrol economy is around 40mpg although the road tax is slightly pricey on older models.

Practically, this is one of the best cars he used. The car after all these years still holds the parameters in the manufacturer's specifications. It is very convenient, has a huge trunk, great drivin it. If it was possible to buy the same model produced now, I immediately bought it.

The machine is not bad, but it requires attention and care. This machine is one disease, it often shuts down. I really need the money for the TAX and the ILO. In early April, end all.
