Fraudulent Auto Trader Emails
We explain what to do if you come across a fraudulent email.
Auto Trader has been informed of a company masquerading as autotrader.co.uk, who attempted to defraud customers by illegal use of the Auto Trader name and logo.
This company is sending an email detailing an exclusive offer for Auto Trader customers, £29.99 to advertise your car for 3 weeks on the Auto Trader website and in the magazine, with a full refund if your car is not sold. This is NOT a genuine email from Auto Trader.
The full email is detailed below. Please DO NOT give any credit card details to this company as it is a fraudulent email. Please be aware that Auto Trader will never request credit card details via emails.
Auto Trader has been informed of a company masquerading as autotrader.co.uk, who attempted to defraud customers by illegal use of the Auto Trader name and logo.If you have submitted any personal credit card details to this company, please contact your credit card company immediately to cancel the transaction.
Other large scale scams have also been brought to our attention including an export scam which has resulted in car sellers losing thousands of pounds through bounced or fraudulant cheques and bankers drafts.
