Massa and Schumi claim top honours

Monday 30th November 2009

Felipe Massa pulled off a popular victory in Sunday's second leg of his annual karting race, beating Michael Schumacher to the chequered flag.

Massa has been away from competition since his horrific Hungarian qualifying accident, during which he suffered life-threatening head injuries.

The Brazilian, though, is on course to return to Formula One next season, proving on Sunday that he has lost none of his ability or speed.

Massa, who finished third in the weekend's opening leg, claimed the victory on Sunday, beating his former Ferrari team-mate Schumacher.

"It was a great return to racing," Massa said. "I felt 100 percent."

However, Schumacher's victory on Saturday meant the seven-time World Champion clinched the overall title at the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions

"It's fantastic to do a one-two with Felipe. It was like in the old days," Schumacher told reporters.
