French court upholds FIA application process

Thursday 26th November 2009

A French court has upheld the FIA's application process after rejecting N.Technology's legal action against motorsport's governing body.

N.Technology was just one outfit that applied for a place on the 2010 grid when the FIA opened up registration. However, the team was denied a slot.

N.Technology, who launched the action through parent company MSC, said at the time that "the procedure for dealing with new entrants was not respected and there was not transparency about the process and preparations for the 2010 Championship."

As a result, MSC went to court last month, however, their action was rejected.

"The Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris has upheld the FIA's selection procedure for new teams in the 2010 FIA Formula 1 World Championship and rejected a legal action filed by UK company MSC, one of the unsuccessful candidates," said an FIA statement.

"The court rejected all points raised by MSC and ordered the company to pay the FIA's legal costs.

"MSC was one of 15 new organisations to submit an application to compete in the Championship in 2010.

"The FIA's selection procedure involved a thorough due diligence process on all applications with the assistance of financial auditors Deloitte & Touche and other technical experts."
