Based on the recently-launched C-Class Coupe (which will also appear at Frankfurt), the new car goes on sale in March 2016. When it arrives, it’ll be up against rivals such as the BMW M4 and the Audi RS5 coupe.

Naturally, the biggest change over the standard Coupe can be found under the bonnet. The C63 shares the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that’s found in other AMG products like the GT supercar and the C63 saloon and estate. Like these cars, the C63 Coupe will be available with two power outputs; 469bhp in the ‘standard’ model and 503bhp in S versions. They also produce peak torque figures of 479- and 516lb/ft respectively, which is available between 1,750- and 4,500rpm.

These outputs mean the 0-62mph sprint is now dispatched in 3.9- and 4.0 seconds by the S and standard model, respectively, while both have an electronically restricted top speed of 155mph. This can, however, be increased to 190mph by speccing the AMG Driver’s Package. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a mechanical limited-slip differential in the standard model, while S models have an electronically-controlled differential.

To cope with this extra performance, the C63 Coupe also gets uprated brakes and suspension over the standard model. Standard models sit on 18-inch alloy wheels, while S models get 19s and the car as a whole is longer, lower and wider than the standard coupe, which Mercedes says gives the new car a sportier demeanour.

There’s also the usual sporty bodykit, with larger air intakes, air vents, bulging wheelarches, side skirts, a rear diffuser and unique exhaust pipes. Inside, you get a plethora of AMG-specific switchgear, ARTICO leather-upholstered sports seats as standard, and the option of lower-set Performance seats.

We’ll be reporting on the C63 Coupe at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and driving the car early in 2016, so don’t forget to come back then to find out more.
