New Honda Civic Type R to cost from £30,995

Having been unveiled at the Geneva Show in March, the hottest Civic will arrive in July, costing less than £300 a month on finance.

  • GT version £2000 more than basic model
  • PCP will cost £299 a month on three-year contract
  • On sale now, with first deliveries in July
The new Honda Civic Type R will cost from £30,995, the company has confirmed. And, if you buy it through a PCP, it can be yours for less than £300 per month.
Unveiled at the Geneva Show in March, the new Type R will rival the likes of the new Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus RS. It’s powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 316bhp and, although it’s based on the latest Civic, the Type R has revised suspension to give sharper handling, as well as a selection of driving modes, which tailor the adaptive dampers, steering, gear shift and throttle response depending on the driver’s preference.
Two models will be available, with the GT version costing £2000 more than the basic model. For that extra, buyers will get a blind spot information system, dual-zone climate control, sat-nav, an upgraded stereo, and LED front fog lights.
If you buy the car through Honda’s finance, the basic Type R costs £299 a month on a three-year 5.9% contract. Both versions are available to order now, and first deliveries are expected in July. We’ll be driving the car in mid-June, so come back here then for a full review of what Honda claims will be ‘the most rewarding drive in the hot-hatch segment’.
