Send to a friend


  1. What is Send to Friend?

    Send to Friend allows you to forward advert details to friends, family, or even yourself to browse at a later date.


  2. How can I send a vehicle advert?

    To send an advert, simply click on the red Send to Friend button underneath the vehicle details on a used car popup advert. If you are registered and logged in, you will need to enter your friend's email address and your name. You can further personalise the email with your friend's name and a brief message.

    Once you enter these details, click send. You will then be presented with a message telling you the message will be sent in the next few minutes.


  3. How many Send to Friend messages can I send? 

    Ten per day.


  4. Why can't I use Send to Friend?

    You must be registered and logged in to use Send to Friend. You can do this by clicking the appropriate link from the red My Trader menu or from the main search form. Alternatively, you may also click the links from the Send to Friend popup.


  5. Why isn't Send to Friend available on some adverts?

    Send to Friend is available all in used car, bike, van, truck, plant and caravan advertisements. It is not currently available on adverts with bespoke dealer branding, or new car and bike adverts, although this is something we will be rolling out in the future.


  6. Why can't I view more details of a vehicle that has been sent to me?

    Once an advert has expired or the customer has requested it be removed, it will no longer be accessible on the website.


  7. Will Auto Trader pass on Send to Friend details to third parties?

    No. Email addresses entered during the Send to Friend process are used solely for the purposes of sending adverts.
