Meet the Toyota Auris take-two; the follow-up to the car that replaced the Toyota Corolla, itself the world’s best-selling car. Deputy web editor, Stuart Milne travelled to Barcelona to see if the facelifted version of the Auris lives up to its billing of the son of the world’s favourite car. Three years after the Toyota Auris launched, it has been treated to a mid-life makeover with new looks, new engines and a revised model line-up. But perhaps more importantly, the range will be completed with a hybrid, to launch in July 2010.

New-look Toyota Auris
A facelifted Toyota Auris has gone on sale, with prices starting at £14,463. The new-look Toyota Auris adopts design cues from the latest generation Avensis and Verso, with a more prominent front grille and deeper bumper. The range of petrol and diesel engines remain unchanged, comprising of a 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i petrol, a 1.6 Valvematic petrol and a fuel-efficient 1.4 D-4D diesel.
