Updates for BMW’s 2013 range
Updates for the 2013 BMW 1-Series, 3-Series and X1 have been announced. The company’s best-selling 3-series Touring will get two new petrol and two new diesel powerplants. Meanwhile, the UK will also be getting four-wheel drive versions of the 3-series touring and 1-series hatch. 2013 will also see the UK debut of a petrol version of the BMW X1.

BMW X1 gets a mid-life refresh
The BMW X1 has received a mid-life refresh, gaining a revised engine range and modified interior and exterior styling. The compact crossover is now strictly diesel powered, with all variants based on the same 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged unit.

BMW sales reach record highs
BMW has posted record sales figures for 2011, selling over 14 per cent more vehicles than in 2010. The figures, which include sales of MINI, Rolls Royce and BMW Motorcycles, show that the German manufacturer sold 1,668,982 vehicles globally last year.

Safest cars revealed
Euro NCAP, the organisation which crash tests new cars and awards them safety ratings, has revealed the safest new cars of 2010. Last year Euro NCAP crash tested 29 new cars, with just 65 per cent achieving the maximum five-star rating.
