TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO 1.8 VVT-i T Spirit 5dr (Review date: 18th July '14)
This is the first version with 5 seats. The rear row is removable which creates a van like interior. The result is extreme flexibility. My car has the combined Sat/nav,radio,casette, CD, system which have have not seen on others, yet.
Gearing is slightly low but with the torque from the 1.8 its rarely necessary to invoke the top rpm. The downside is that cruise at 70 mph is 3300 rpm and a little noisy, but push past to say 75 indicated and it quietens down.
Expect 33mpg local running in winter and 36 summer. long runs will get 42/44 mpg.
Reliability has been everything the Corolla became renowned for. Top class. Ride and road holding very good but fit decent tyres!
The only negative is the oil consumption on the FE engine. Don't run it to high and check it regularly. Mine has completed 102600 miles.
Nightmare car despite perfect seating arrangement
TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO 2.2 D-4D TR 5dr (Review date: 8th July '14)
After a massive battle with toyota we had engine replaced at about 86k miles, now only a few thousand miles (and a new clutch) further on, we now have copious amounts of smoke again and a car that won't start with several people pushing it! Seating is perfect for our needs as we only need all seven seats a couple of times a year but the trouble we've had is horrendous, it's not really fit to tow much more than a skateboard either!! Don't bother! We're looking for a galaxy or s-Max now :-((
TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO 1.6 VVT-i T2 5dr (Review date: 15th June '14)
Bought this car in 2007 and had no problem for 3 years but then the spark plugs and coils started to play. Had it checked by Toyota and many more but no body knows why its damaging coils. runs fine once coil is changed. Some how water gets in and damages the spark plugs and coil but dont know how and why. Otherwise good car.Buying similar again, hope it is not a common fault as very expensive to replace all 4 coils and plugs.
does what it says on the tin.
TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO 1.8 VVT-i T3 5dr (Review date: 7th June '14)
Most reliable car I've had. Nothing spectacular to say - you put the key in turn, it starts. No trouble at all - a million miles away from the
galaxy, trajet and even golfs which had their issues.
I chose this model because of the built in car booster seats in the back - very practical. I only gave it a 4 for economy because the petrol achieves about 31mpg average, which is ok for its year, but probably low compared to new cars. I will probably only ever buy Toyota cars from now on.
Look no further
TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO 2.2 D-4D T2 5dr (Review date: 29th June '12)
Having done the research 3 years ago and finding high owner satisfaction and a Which? Best Buy the Toyota Corolla Verso 'ticked all the boxes' for us. It has a superb 2.2 Diesel engine which has fabulous torgue and has returned an outstanding 60 mpg on one particular journey up north. To be fair we usually get about 50 mpg.
The seating is very comfortable and easily adjusts to whatever we are carrying (I've had 5 adults and 2 kids in the rear seats, as well as made several very worthwhile trips to the dump. Toyota sevicing is fantastic and fair. The controls are all easily available and it has some nice features - like the automatic window closures, even after switch-off.
My only real gripe is the visibilty rear-wards. We had several small knocks in the early months of ownership, but now we use the side mirrors properly! Van drivers will find it a cinch.
The Verso is a robust, flexible, reliable, adaptable, economical and fun car to own.
A pity we have to sell it.
Im a happy driver again!
TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO 1.8 VVT-i T3 5dr Auto (Review date: 24th February '12)
My toyota, Ive had quite a few different cars over the years but I love my toyota, yes i did say love. I bought it second hand with a full service history, I've had toyotas before so I knew it would be reliable. For health reasons I needed a raised seating position and an automatic. I knew it was for me when I saw it - the seating position seemed just right, i had a little drive, great it was very easy to drive. Well this car was ticking all the right boxes ( as they say). The previos owner had kept it immaculate, since getting the car home quite a few people have commented on what a lovely colour red it is.
But from day one the difference it has made to my life is huge, I don;t have pain in my foot anymore when i'm driving before my verso i'd end up limping after driving.Since owning this car which is nearly 2 years i have only had to service it,MOT and replace the tyres thankfully nothing major has gone wrong (but I didn't expect it too).Around town it is smooth and motorway driving is very easy.
The down side to my car is its heavy on road tax and heavy on fuel, but i knew there would be as its an automatic. My car is functional, roomy, easy to drive ,easy to park, i'm a working mum so I use it every day to and from work, to and from nusery. My toyota has made me a happy driver again!
