Fantastic Car and Tow car
SSANGYONG REXTON 270 Xdi SE 5dr Tip Auto (Review date: 2nd December '13)
I bought this car second hand in august this year 2013 its a 05 plate and has got to be the best car I have ever owned, I have a 4 berth caravan which it tows like it isn't there.
It is a auto which is lovely and smooth and the engine starts first time everytime.
I have a a few expenses like a alternator and water pump but other than that no problems.
Its a little bit juicy but this is like all 4X4's but i get between 28-30mpg which i think is far better than a Discovery and pulls better too.
Bundles of luggage space and plenty of room for passengers.

Had my Rexton for about 2 years now. Selling to my son so this review is not to tempt you to buy.
I love this car. Leather ,sat nav ,heated leather seats cruise etc etc. Don't expect it to drive like a sports car. Its an elbow on the window cruiser. Drive it carefully and you will get upper 20 # to the gallon. Put your foot down and, yes it goes, but watch the fuel gauge drop. Massive inside. I got a fridge freezer in its box in the back with the rear seats folded down
Main word of warning. 2006 onwards = £480 /year tax. 2005 or older is half that.
I'm only selling this car as I need to reduce my outgoings. One of the best cars I have ever owned.
DONT TOUCH WITH A BARGEPOLE!

Bought this car in 2009 and thought what a bargain as it was comfortable , nice looking and a pleasure to drive. However that is where the good experience ends. In January 2010 my wife smashed the front passenger side after hitting black ice! The vehicle was off the road for months(about six if i remember correctly) as most of the parts were unavailable. Only when we went to the newspapers did they agree to dismantle a brand new car in Ireland to provide the parts needed.Throughout our ownership we have had numerous recalls. We also had a driveshaft go which took weeks to come in. The vehicle is now in the dealership with the engine lying in the boot as the engine packed up after 62000 miles approx due to oil starvation to cylinder 5 however no warning light came on and the dealership cannot explain where the oil has gone but have confirmed there is no leak and the oil hasn`t burnt.I am now in the process of handing the vehicle back to the finance company as i am unwilling to spend £4800 when it might just do the same again!
The Best car EVER

This car is so eay to drive as its automatic.
The pros are. Comfortable as it has large mirrors and cruirs control also heated Seats. I have towed my caravan with my Landrover and that was a struggle. With mt Ssanyong, towing is a breeze.I like the large Sat Nav System it has.
Cons Have had fitted reversing sensors for safety for those that find reversing a pain
All in all a very stylish car ,easy to drive and a great looker
Stylish, Strong & Safe
SSANGYONG REXTON 290 SE 7 Seat 5dr (Review date: 5th July '11)
Nice example of a stylish Estate. Higher up which makes you feel safer in it to a standard estate car. Not too chunky but stylish enough to make it a head turner, especially with tinted windows. Very comfortable to drive long distances and the rear 7 seats one manoever to collapse to make additional luggage space.
Mercedes engine and being Ssangyong the parts are robust and inexpensive, unlike other similar standard vehicles.
Primarily bought mine for the 7 seats as do not like the MPV's that are around and wanted something more stylish.
Not disappointed at all, been a reliable car and great car!
Towcar Extraordinary. Fab in the snow
SSANGYONG REXTON 270 Xdi SX 5dr Tip Auto (Review date: 17th March '11)
A superb towcar, took a big caravan through Switzerland and Italy easily. A Mercedes Engine and Gearbox without paying Mercedes prices.
Big and strong, and looks good too in black.
Selling only because we no longer have the caravan.
5 seats and masses of luggage space.
Not the cheapest on fuel, but it's almost worth it to pass all those cars stuck in the snow.
Has 4 WD as required, or it can be put on permanently.
A pleasure to drive
SSANGYONG REXTON 320 SX 5 Seat 5dr Tip Auto (Review date: 11th March '11)
The car is very spacious and has all the mod cons. It is a pleasure to drive with lots of leg room and comfertable leather seats throughout.
It suits my lifestyle as I can put two bikes in the back and still have plenty of room for luggage on weekends away.
It does use a lot of petrol, but being lpg converted this has brought the running costs down dramatically. Being a mercedes engine the car is reliable and a pleasure to drive.
A sturdy, reliable, easy to drive motor what would suit person who does a lot of travelling and needs plenty of boot space.

This is by far the best car I've own and I have had few in my 30 years of driving. Its never let me down ever. 100% reliable but then its a merc 270 really is'nt it,equally good on road, snow, off road wherever.
Loads of spec, good aircon, stereo, sat nav etc. heated windows and seats for winter excellent. only had to put brakesdiscs and tyres on it in 28k miles.
Room in the pack for lots of shopping and extra seats if need be.
Alround great performer. only reason for change is its now to big as on me and Mrs so we can stow campin gear in a saloon.

I wanted as replacement for my Chevrolet Blazer. I have a 4 berth caravan, which I use frequently. The Blazer was a fine tow car, it performed as if there was nothing on the back, it would with a 4.3l engine!. The down side was that it was a bit juicy. The Rexton had good credentials, the BHP, and low end torque were practically the same as the Blazer. The Rexton 2.7l engine is basically a Mercedes one, and the transmission is the Mercedes tiptronic type. Permanent 4WD.
On my first towing trip I was exceptionally pleased with the performance, as good as the Blazer. The cruise control is fantastic. All the goodies that you could wish for come as standard. No bothers about guarentee, or service, comes with a five year free plan for both.
The carrying capacity is enormous, I have saved a fortune in skip hire by taking my building rubble to the council tip.
Downside. Yes the only faults I have found is a) Bad blind spot with front pillars. b). The dark privacy glass makes reversing, especially at night a bit of a problem, I normally open the wiondows to perform this manover.
