PEUGEOT BIPPER TEPEE 1.4 HDi 70 Outdoor 5dr (Review date: 24th December '10)

I am 50+ and suffer from arthritis in my knees and need a car that is not too low to get in and out of. This car meets that requirement.

Pros:

The 1.4 HDI version is environmentally clean and therefore only £30 annual road tax.

Reliable French diesel engine

Really low insurance group.

Lots of space when you need it.

Handles really well and nippy for a small engine. Managed to cope well with the icy Scottish roads this winter.

Flooring in car is rubber and therefore no soggy carpets in the snow. Easy just to wipe and dry out.

Lots of car for the cost.

Looks good with roof rails and raised suspension and rugged black bumpers.

Big wing mirrors are great for changing lane on motorway.

Cons:

The rear screen wiper is not centred and therefore misses part of the rear screen in its swipe.

The 'blip' key can be hard to handle untill you get used to it. It is easy to accidentally hit the boot lock button as you are starting the car, and therefore the boot warning light comes on just as you are driving off. I originally thought there was something wrong with the boot lock until I realised what I was doing.

Not as big as my last car (Citroen Berlingo)

The cons are minor irritations I hope Peugeot will iron out in future versions of the car. Other than that, I can't understand why I would want to pay any more for a car as this does everything I need it to do whilst looking after the environment for future generations. It takes me to and from work but can also cope with holiday luggage for a family or a big monthly supermarket shop. My nieces and nephews like the fact that the rear seat is higher than the front ones, and therefore they get really good visibility when travelling with me. I do a lot of motorway travelling so appreciate it being a bit higher than some other cars as it improves visibility, also helped with the van sized wing mirrors.
