Peugeot clutches, oh dear oh dear
PEUGEOT 407 2.0 HDi 136 Zenith 5dr (Review date: 30th June '11)
i've read the moderation rules ..........
pro's, good economy
cons, economy goes out the window due to dual mass flywheel breaking up & demolishing the clutch as well ........... apparently a very common problem when you google 307/407 clutch/dual mass flywheel.
Expensive to repair, £1200+ from main dealer.
Would i buy another ..... don't be silly.

PEUGEOT 407 1.6 HDi 110 SE 5dr (Review date: 16th April '11)
Great looking car, great to drive.
Cheap Road tax and Insurance.
Loads of gadgets.
Not for Tall people.
Stupid shape boot door prevents full use of the space.
Had to replace the alloys twice; on steels now.- This was because of the Peugeot locking wheel nuts and the overpriced tyre valves- The pressure warning system puts the valves @ £70- The locking nuts had to be drilled off.
False messages appear.
The whole light cluster has to come off to change a bulb (rear)
Central Locking freezes car shut in winter
Do not go to Peugeot for any servicing or parts.
PEUGEOT 407 2.2 HDi 170 GT 5dr (Review date: 22nd March '11)
I am an Engineering Consultant and use the car every day for work. I drive between 700 and a 1000 miles a week. The trim is black leather and the car is fully loaded with gadgets ( too many to list ) I have had it for 3 years and has never seen a garage for repair. It is very easy to drive, and my only complaints are the boot is on the small side for an estate and the sat nav will not accept post codes
Pros and Cons from a ten year owner
PEUGEOT 407 2.0 HDi 136 SV 5dr (Review date: 19th March '11)
As a taxi driver, I have owned Peugeots now for about twenty two years, I think this speaks for itself.
The 407 diesel Estate is good value for money and a very good car to drive it has all the gimmicks some of them very useful and some quite annoying particularly the tyre pressure sensors.
The boot area is nothing likes as roomy as the the old 406.
The particle filter can be quite annoying but dont let the main dealer tell you that this needs changing at a cost of around £600.00, if you know a good reliable local garage the filter can be removed and cleaned out with traffic film removing fluid and then dryed out and reffited
A bit of advise if you buy a Peugeot, when ever possible avoid taking your car to the main agents for servicing and repairs, these places bring Dick Turpin to mind.
PEUGEOT 407 2.0 HDi 136 SE 5dr Tip Auto (Review date: 18th March '11)
Bought from new I have now driven 140000 miles and it hasn't missed a beat. With loads of electronic gizmos on board I am definately looking to have another one when this one dies but the way it is going at the moment I am loath to change it for a while yet.
Economy is amazing especially when the cruise control is activated.
It is always an absolute pleasure to drive.
Would really recommend them!
