406 2.1 LX Family Estate (7 Seats)

PEUGEOT 406 2.1 TD LX Family 5dr [AC] (Review date: 8th April '11)

We had one for 11 years and it covered 167,000 the only issues where rear joints, aircon, engine mounts all cheaply repaired.

It went back and forth to Scotland on may occasions returning well over 45mpg.

The M6 Express stated to 'get tatty' bofdy scrapes in garden centers! scratches etc... nothing major - so we part-exchanged it for a New Hyundai i30 Estate and got £3,800 on he Scrappage scheme.

The Hyundai is a terrifically reliable car - but we still look back and wish we had kept the M6 Express and had the body tidied up! much chepaer in teh long run.

I have just bought a 2.0 HDi 110 GLX Auto (Facelift) 9 years old with 78,000 in superb condition, good service for just £1,850 - and drives like a new car! The wife wants to swap - no chance :-)

Early days on the reliability front, but sure it won't let me down.

Where else can you gate a comfortable, reliable, quiet, quick car well fitted out car like this for that kind of money?? and although older doesn't look that dated either.......

Enough said!!

Best Bargain for a long time

PEUGEOT 406 1.8 L 5dr [AC] (Review date: 5th April '11)

Live in Somerset and bought this car from Penrith on Ebay for 1K

Best money I have ever spent this car being the run out model has climate, cd, remote locking 4xe/windows and the much plusher interior trim with chrome instuments and nice wood detailing.

When you consider my previous car was a Mercedes 2001m/y S 500 you might think I wouldn't be impressed but I am continually pleased when driving on the motorway in a more comfortable and much more economical car with no rust and no breakdowns unlike the Mercedes.

I have now completed 10K and have just changed the oil and filter, air filter and spark plugs the total just £42.75 and took about 1 hour. I did this myself and am not a mechanic so am very pleased

My advice buy the latest you can afford and you won't go wrong.

Simply awesome My406

PEUGEOT 406 2.0 HDi 110 Executive 5dr [AC] (Review date: 26th March '11)

This is my second 406 and 4th peugeot

it was a cheap car at 1400 pound a year ago. yes it sounds a bit dear for a peugeot but it comes fully kited out with eletric heated leather seats, ac , sunroof with lots more. It has every extra that peugeot offered at the time

The same spec of car in a german make could cost three times the money. and you only get the same results.

I use the car as a A to B car and it just does it, it has 135k on the clock but still can do 50+MPG. parts are cheap when needed i have only serviced it so far but may need disces for next MOT (around £60)

It is a big car but not much more than the saloon with loads more space in the back and a huge boot.

The only thing that lets the car down is that it could do with a bit more power. but i have plans to fix that.

My car has done 280,000 and still as reliable as ever. Regularly serviced, the car has never let me down. You would be hard to find a similar car in its class for comfort or for fuel efficiency.

Practicality & Comfort

PEUGEOT 406 1.8 LX 5dr [AC] (Review date: 23rd March '11)

4.3

I have had various cars over the years & not many have kept me comfortable on long journeys. I had a hire car with better spec for a long trip I had to make. Before I had driven for 2 hours I was wishing I was behind the wheel of my own car. just goes to show that new doesn't mean better.

PEUGEOT 406 2.0 HDi 90 Rapier 5dr [AC] (Review date: 17th March '11)

This is a great car for motorway driving -smooth, economic and reliable. The adjustable driving position is a bonus, and the mirrore positions are good. Seating is very comfortable, though to have three adults in the back is tight - as it is in most cars! On short trips about town, fuel goes quite a bit quicker, but the needle doesn't seem to move on a long trip. Boot space is great - I regularly carry a keyboard and associated PA gear with no difficulty.

Peugeot 406 estate Dad's pride and joy

PEUGEOT 406 2.0 HDi 90 Rapier 5dr [AC] (Review date: 17th March '11)

Dad loved this car for it's practicality and the space for his cameras, breathing equipment and his mobility scooter.Very much a family car, the monthly shop and a dog will fit in with ease.Whilst traveling around local scenic areas for photography and on long journey's from scotland to london it 's very reliable, ecconomical to run and the drive is smooth, comfortable and very relaxingfor the driver and the passengers .The car is well built and a pleasure to drive even through ill health. In excellent condition ,well looked after. This is dad's pride and joy.Reluctantly selling due to breavement.

Brilliant car!!!

PEUGEOT 406 1.9 TD LX 5dr [SR] (Review date: 12th March '11)

5

We have nothing but praise for this car.

It has been so good and reliable, and the boot is so big without the seats folded down. Love the split rear seat, has been so useful.

The price of spares is very competative, not that we have had to buy many at all. The engine has been easy to work on, as so much space around it.

It is so easy and comfortable to drive. Everything is within such easy reach, speaking as someone that is only 5' 2"
