Great car for around town and even longer journeys.

Comfortable, very practical and economical.

Not flash or fast but ticks a lot of boxes

206 GTi takes on the competition!

PEUGEOT 206 2.0 GTi 3dr [DAC+CC] (Review date: 8th September '11)

After the great success of the 80's 205 GTi, the 206 always had a tough act to follow. Whilst the 205 was lightwieght, lithe and lairy, the 206 is loaded with comfort options, is not as much of a handful to drive, but can still keep up with certain other better-known GTi's out there!

With 2 engine choices (the 140 and the 180bh versions), the 140bhp delivers plenty more power than "standard" 206s, but with the same edgy looks and driver comforts in the oft-maligned "hairdressers" hatch. However, a quiet B-road or a clear motorway will quickly disperse any fears of owning a cooking motor, as this has plenty get-up and-go in it's revvy 2.0L engine.

Running costs are ok, parts stock coming from Peugeot's well stocked 206 line, with only a few items being in the "GTi only" bracket, tax can be a little dear, insurance is 14D (it is a 2.0L!), but these are minor sacrifices to make to own a good, fast car.

It's reliable (not had any major issues), spacious (5 seats and room in the boot for luggage), comfortable (A/C, climate control, suede/leather interior) and practical (I regularly stuff my mountain bike in the back at weekends).

The styling is turning into something of a modern classic, and with performance, handling, practicality and reliability to boot, it's been a good ownership and I'll be sad to see it go!

Great car that has served me well for years now. Has passed the MOT each year and has been good value during the servicing. Nothing else other than an exhaust has been required in 6 years.

lovely sporty looking car, very cheap to run and nice and quick, the three door can be a little small, but this is only a problem if you need people in the back a lot.

Fantastic car

PEUGEOT 206 1.4 Quiksilver 3dr [AC] (Review date: 6th September '11)

I am really sad to be selling my car. It has been absolutely fantastic and has never let me down. Easy to drive and really economical. Small size is perfect for cities and is also great on long journeys. Cheap to insure, goes for miles on a tank of petrol. Snow chains included which will be handy if this winter is anything like the last one! You can't go wrong with it. Hopefully the next owner will love it as much as I do.

Been a pleasure to drive. Very reliable and economic to run, cheap tax, insurance and 55+mpg average. Used on a daily basis with 2 children in car seats - plenty of space and reasonable boot space for size of car.

we brought this car three years ago, it is a y plate and has been brilliant!! we had to buy a car quickly hence choosing this with no service history etc. Although dubious at first this car has been brilliant!! it always starts on cold mornings and if left for a long period of time! it has passed all mots at low cost. 75 pounds was this years total and is comfortable and roomy for me and my two children. The red paint is still bright and shiny compared with corsas ive seen of a similar age.

Not the best grip however if very wet or icy etc.

Peugeot 206 LX

The car has been with the family since first regsitration in 2000. Two lady owners my wife and her mother. Car is used to commute to and from work. The car drives very well. On a full tank of petrol I am averaging 450 miles before filling up. Would recommend this car to anyone as a small runabout or as a second family car.

206 gti 140 bhp

PEUGEOT 206 2.0 GTi 3dr [DAC+CC] (Review date: 25th August '11)

first of all the power.. now 140 bhp is not alot but in this case its more than enough! this model shifts!

now ill admit there not the best built cars but its only little problems which get sorted at your m.o.t.

now this car if you run it upto 3000 rpm is very economical such as around 35 mpg but when you stick your foot down they are thirsty.

handle like a dream and go like a rocket! the interior is blissfull half leather half suede and climate controll to tope it off all round a beautiful car!
