STAY WELL CLEAR!!!!!

MERCEDES-BENZ A CLASS A140 Avantgarde 5dr (Review date: 4th April '11)

3.5

The only thing about this car that is good is how it looks and the space inside otherwise id stay well away!!

I really loved this car but i will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy another Merc again!!

I had to have the ECU unit changed when it had only been changed less than a year before and then 16000 miles later it needed another. AT £1000 a time it would have worked out cheaper to buy a used A class each time. I CANNOT express the dissopointment i felt with this car, i even got in touch with Merc in Germany but they would not do anything as the car was a 1999.....even though this is a common fault with the car of that year and any of the A class models up until 2004. A door lock broke so i had to ghave that replaced, a small peice of metal probably about 2 inches long...cost......£170.00!!!! outrageous!!!! The engine has now completely failed and the car is worthless, it will cost more than the cars worth to fix so its bye bye to the a class and tme to find a more reliable, cheaper to fix car that does not have any common faults or not such a major common fault at least. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED YOU MAY AS WELL GET YOUR MONEY AND THROW IT IN A FIRE.....

4.8

It has Mercedes Benz reliability. As long as it is fed,it would run non-stop. Both my mercedes cars are superbly reliable and never had any problems in the last 7 years I had them.

Tardis like car with great visibility & high comfort levels. The high drivers position also allows for ease when getting in and out of the car, great for young and old alike!

3.8

This a Mercedes A-Class is a real quandary car. On the plus side, it’s cleverly packaged and trendy; on the downside, it’s expensive and powered by outdated engines. This face-lift has to address the issues.

Not much has changed on the outside of the latest version: the radiator grille, bumpers and lights are new, there are larger, reshaped door mirrors and extra body-coloured trim. Subtle tweaks, but enough to give its image a boost.

Inside, new trims make the cabin look classier. The plush plastics and top-notch fit and finish make the A-Class’s interior as good as some of Mercedes’ pricier models. It’s practical, too, offering you family-car passenger space in a car that’s shorter than some superminis.

Mercedes A Class 2002

MERCEDES-BENZ A CLASS A190 Elegance 5dr ACS (Review date: 27th March '11)

4.5

Pros:

Economic, incredibly reliable, small, fast, nimble but the best thing is the fact that all the seats (bar the driver's seat!) can easily be removed to create an absolutely enormous cargo space that can take very long items. we recently transported a full dining suite with six chairs to my brother's house with room to spare. I have also transported 3m long kitchen worktops. Another benefit of removing the seats is that the car can be easily cleaned.

Cons:

Relatively poor ride comfort on long journeys. We can't think of anything else negative to say!

Great Family Run About

MERCEDES-BENZ A CLASS A140 Classic SE 5dr (Review date: 27th March '11)

4.5

Lots of space for Kids and adult passengers in back, and good sized boot. Ideal for town run about. Engine is very reliable having never failed even throughout the harsh winter conditions. Gear box needs work, hence price asked, once sorted will be a very reliable vehicle. Very cheap to run - low tax, insurance and running costs.

Great family car

MERCEDES-BENZ A CLASS A140 Classic SE 5dr (Review date: 26th March '11)

4.8

I've had this car since new and it's proved to be a great family car. This long wheel base makes it extra roomy, which is ideal when ferrying children/shoping. It's very reliable and good to drive. Parking is easy and it's pretty economical to run. It's very nippy to drive around town but is also good on the motorway and feels very safe. I no longer need a car because of a change of job, which is the reason that I am selling it now.

practical little car,has sustained every day family use. the height of the seats make it ideal for getting a car seat in and out of the car without struggling as well as the added safety factor. very economical and a low insurance group. does however cost £112 for 6 months tax and feel a little unsteady cornering at high speed. all that said am replacing it with a newer a class so can't be that bad!

Good litle car that has been a joy to own. relaible ,good for 1st time driver or as a small family 1st or 2nd car. Used on a daily basis and did not fail to start even in the coldest winter weather. Sun roof goes right back making you feel as if your in a convertable! Would have bought a barand new one if it had been slightly bigger.
