Oh dear, the money has gone but the fun has arrived

LOTUS EVORA 3.5 V6 +2 2dr (Review date: 19th August '12)

4.5

Lovely car to own. Friends are queuing up to have a go and show their kids. Gets some indignant comments from the "is that your family car" brigade. Snidey little digs about what the wife may think vs practicality. I say, go and do one, the type of people who buy nice sports cars and really think about it, will love this car.. My daughter at only 2.5 years old, screams, daddy's car daddy's car every time we go out, she previously didn't comment on cars at all. She fits comfortably in the back and the wife who is 9 months pregnant in the front. It is a squeeze, but we have a Freelander for the longer journeys so who gives a .....monkeys.

In terms of attracting attention, if, that is your thing, drive this car, you will not be disappointed. Entire streets of people turn round in unison when you drive down the road. A good de-cat or Radium CAI with a sports exhaust will make the car sound like how it looks. It doesn't sound like how it looks though, so does need a little tinkering, all quite easy to do.

If you are hovering over this car and a much older 911, go see an Evora in the flesh. The pictures don't do them justice. This is one very large baby super car that needs to be seen. From the front, it looks stunning.

Prices are ok now at low to mid 30k for the right car. I got one with the Premium, Tech and Sport pack. In my opinion all are necessary to make the car a lovely GT car. Kids love it, wife loves it, mates love it, the public loves it.

Bad bits.

Don't read too many Lotus Forums, they get quite depressing as the bad stories appear here, but seldom the good. Other bad bits, sat nav is completely rubbish and should be removed as not fit for purpose. They have changed this on the new models.

They are lovely cars, get one, and let the smiles begin.

Lotus Evora

LOTUS EVORA 3.5 V6 +2 Sports Tech 2dr (Review date: 12th February '12)

4.5

Absolutely fantastic car! Super car looks mean it is a real attention grabber on the road and down the high street. Grown men stop and stare, women strike up conversations when getting in and out and children take photos and stop and point. Make no mistake this car will make you feel like a celebrity! Fuel economy is good given what it is and you can reasonably expect to achieve 33mpg on a steady run, or around 27mpg if you give it some. Go for one with the sport package as one press of that button transforms the car from normal feeling coupe to hyper car. This car is my daily driver in which I do a seventy mile round trip to and from work....a more luxurious place I can not imagine being. Finding a model with the tech pack adds the DVD player, updated speakers and inbuilt subwoofer...the sound is amazing. Lotus handling and drivability is also legendary and needs no comment here. Go for the reverse camera as an extra to aid reverse parking and to add a touch more Bond to the whole experience. This is a wide car but fits in my standard sized garage, but you may rest easier while shopping if you go for the power fold mirrors as an option. Also cannot fault the main dealer who has bent over backwards to accommodate my every question and rectify the inevitable niggles you find in the first few weeks of ownership. All in all, this is a great car and with the depreciation from new on twelve to eighteen month models, is an irresistible proposition for anyone with a 30k budget.

LOTUS EVORA 3.5 V6 +2 2dr (Review date: 10th September '11)

4.3

The Lotus Evora is fantastic to drive and a total joy to own.

The car has all you would expect from a Lotus and much much more.

It is beautiful to drive, looks great, turns heads and is reliable.

The Evora is a 2+2 which is a little pointless as the leg room is non existent for those sitting in the back. However, i have found the additional 'packing' space to be useful, supporting the small boot capacity.

Big Lotus fan so i am horribly biased but i would seriously recommend considering the gorgeous Evora.

This is the 3rd Lotus i have owned and i am sure it wont be the last!
