Honda Really Do Make Great Cars

HONDA SHUTTLE 2.3i LS 5dr Auto (Review date: 4th May '11)

4.8

In comparison to VW, Mercedes, Ford (no comparison to Fiat at all), Honda make really great reliable cars. I have owned this for over 100,000 miles and I should have had no significant repair bills.

2 rear brake calipers bound after poor servicing lubrication at 90k & gearbox clutch failed after stupid mechanic over filled the gearbox oil. I know this because a) There are were no spare parts in Europe (so the item isn't failing and b) the Honda dealer told me with confidence exactly why the gearbox had failed before he knew that it had been over filled. The only other problem was an air intake gasket failure at 100,000 which was caused by Honda dealer failing diagnose a coolant leak as a radiator cap fault rather than a radiator problem (which they replaced but kindly left me the old failed cap!). So with some care avoiding idiot mechanics and sloppy Honda dealers, this car could have been fault free for 100,000 miles.

Great drive, power or economy at 37mpg, comfortable, can handle any Ikea shop. Very easy drive and parking. This car oozes Japanese quality.

The Epic Honda Shuttle 2.3

HONDA SHUTTLE 2.3i ES 5dr Auto (Review date: 27th March '11)

4.5

The Honda Shuttle is truly an epic car. it 2.3l petrol engine sounds amazing, revs up to 8000 rpm and is fantastic to drive on a day to day basis.

The Pros for this car are:

- Very spacious

- Good interior

- Incredble sounding engine

- Reliable

The Cncs for this car are:

- Too big

- Can be quite bumpy on roads

- Turning circle is rubbish

- Not many features

This car suits my life style because it is does everything i want a car to do, and what i want from a car is that it is comfortable, spacious, drives well, decent interior, fast, good handling and a big boot. This car does all of those perfectly. But at times this car doesnt suit my lifestyle because of its size, can be bumpy on roads, and altough the engine sounds great, it can be very annoying when your listening to the radio.

This car is very good to use on a daily basis as it gets the job done. I find it enjoyable to drive when dropping off the kids to school, doing shopping trips and even driving to and from work.

The running cost for this car can be good or bad depending on how much you get paid, for example, if you get paid £5k a month then the running cost wouldnt be a lot but if you only get paid £2k a month, then the running costs will be the same but you may find it hard to pay for as you might have other things to pay for. The reliability for this car is exceptionally good as it has never broken down once, not ever! This car is very practical because like i said, it has a big boot, good to drive and is good to drive on a daily basis. Most of the time this car drives really smoothly and it is quite rapid for an MPV.

Overall i would say that this car is very good to own, its running costs are not bad, very reliable and drives absolutely fine. If your planning on buying an MPV, then look no further, Buy a Honda Shuttle since a used one is very cheap these days, you wont regret it!

HONDA SHUTTLE 2.3i LS 5dr Auto (Review date: 28th February '11)

4.5

overall this is a very practical reliable car for large familys with a lot of thought put in how it was built. the downsides are fuel consumption isnt great and there is no manual option available. It is a very nice car to drive and would be great for long journeys as its very comfortable.

Honda Odyssey

HONDA SHUTTLE 2.2i ES 5dr Auto (Review date: 14th February '11)

Drives like new- Automatic - Sluggish taking off but knows hot to roll once it gets going. fuel consumption ( LPG) fair compared to petrol.

Big car but looks and handles almost like a hatch.

Not for the Rally drivers but makes a superb middle of the range family car in its class with 7 seats.

HONDA SHUTTLE 2.3 ES PETROL AUTO 1998

HONDA SHUTTLE 2.3i ES 5dr Auto (Review date: 7th December '10)

3.8

Very practical with 6 seats for grandchildren etc. Or very practical for transporting loads as the back seats fold down into the boot.Ride is higher than a standard car with plenty of room for rear passengers. Parking can sometimes be difficult as the front end is not visible from the drivers seat. Not a lot in the extra department aircon and heating only fair. No cupholders etc. reliability seems to be fine so far but with it having the 2.3 petrol engine you get the speed but not the mileage per gallon. I had a problem when driving in rain with the front window slightly open with water coming in. I rectified this by fitting wind deflectors which solved the problem. All in all i would say it is a good reliable practical car, although not in production anymore makes a good reasonable priced MPV.
