FORD MONDEO 2.0 TDCi 140 Titanium X 5dr (Review date: 2nd February '12)

Our last car was a Audi A6 2.0 TDI manual Avant 2007, the only areas it was any better in were the thickness of the metal used the panels and the fit and finish of the interior plastics, ie it had a slightly more solid feel. The Mondeo is not that far behind but it beats the Audi in all other areas, the handling, steering are a lot better it feels sharper soaks the bumps up and it is alot quieter. The engine is also alot quieter , smoother and the gearbox is slicker. The car has bluetooth, usb, dab radio etc and it all works together very well and is easy to use. Overall the car is well built and finished with a good spec, ours has the led lights, 18 inch wheels and dark back windows. I feel that Ford has put alot of thought and time into this car as I find it very hard to fault I have owned alot of cars inc a Merc E class Diesel 2004 from a year old none have come close to the Mondeo as a overall package, it puts some more expensive / prestige cars in the shade.

Moneysaving Mondeo - Economical without the Small

FORD MONDEO 1.8 TDCi Edge 5dr (Review date: 1st February '12)

4.3

I am so impressed with my car that I felt compelled to write this review! Not something I would normally bother doing.

I have had my car for 2 years during which time I have used it for both business; as a private hire car and personal use; large family.

There are a couple of things that really make this car stand out for me! Firstly the fuel consumption is very good - I averaged 50.2 MPG ! Now bearing in mind I am tearing around town as a taxi I think that is really good!

The comfort and space is another really key feature. This model is particularly roomy and this was commented on several times over by my customers who said they were impressed by the room in the back.

The boot is also large enough for 4 large suitcases! Which was helpful on any airport runs that I undertook.

I am no longer using this vehicle as a 'taxi' and did consider chopping it in for something smaller but in all honesty it does not seem worth it as it has proved to be the least costly car I have ever owned both in MPG and general upkeep! Apart from the usual tyres and breaks etc I have not needed to spend any money on her and am really pleased with her.

Incidentally mine is a 5 speed box and some models do have a 6 speed box. I have heard that these models achieve slightly better mileage than mine but I am happy with 50mpg.

So if you are looking for a family car but do not want to be crammed into a small runaround then I would really recommend looking at the newer mondeo's from 09 upwards.

Excellent towcar

FORD MONDEO 2.0 TDCi Zetec 5dr (Review date: 23rd January '12)

4.8

Owned for 6 months now. I have a caravan and find it an almost perfect towing vehicle, returning over 30 mpg with van in tow. A joy to drive, economical and versatile - a massive boot! Also much quieter than my Mk3 version. Good equipment levels - can't really think of any real negatives. Would recommend to anyone. Also this was an ex company vehicle so I bought it for a bargain price, although it did take a while to find the right one. Not used for work as I cycle, mainly used at weekends and caravanning as previously mentioned. All in all very pleased with this car.

FORD MONDEO 1.8 TDCi Zetec 5dr [6] (Review date: 21st January '12)

4.3

I have the 1.8 TDCI zetec. What a great car. When I first drove it i thought that it had been chipped as it has loads of power.Quite surprising for a 1.8. If I can careful I can average 50 mpg with 30 mins of town and 1.5 hours of town driving a day. On a run I can get just over 800 miles to a tankful. although it is £165 toad tax the insurance is lower rthan some so this makes up for this. The car is comformtable but I do have a complaint. I am 6ft 5" and if i put the sdaet right back i cannot reach the pedals so I need to pull the seat forward slightly. But even though I have the arms of a gibbon I am still at full stretch to reach the steering wheel. I have the Zetec model but I would recommend that you try and go for the Titanium as this gives you 17" wheels, auto lights, wipers, rear view mirror and folding mirrors. I had these on my last car (2008 C5) and do miss them. I bought the car at 1 year old from ford and no problems yet. I do 23k miles a year and it runs like a dream. I traded my C5 in for the mondeo primarily for the load carrying ability and bigger enginer but this is a much better car. I will be changing my car in 1 years time and fully anticipate buying another mondeo.

FORD MONDEO 2.0 TDCi Ghia 5dr (Review date: 19th January '12)

This is the most practical family car on the market.

It has good looks, is economical & cheap to run and maintain, seats 5 comfortably, achieves 45 mpg combined easily, and gives great handling and power when necessary. You wouldn't know that it is a diesel.

It has a huge boot that will meet most needs and if you fold down the back seats it becomes as good as an estate.

Road tax is £165 per annum, insurance costs are good, £70 gets me around 500 miles.

Great all round vision, good quality fitments/equipment and service costs relatively cheap. great reliability.

Only niggle is that rain runs into the boot when you open up the tailgate fully - hardly a major problem

All in all - great car.

budget luxury

FORD MONDEO 1.8 TDCi Titanium X 5dr [6] (Review date: 19th January '12)

bought this mondeo second hand as an upgrade from a mk3 2.0tdci and ao far i am very pleased with it , being a titanium x it has all the toys which all work without any problems, find it more economical than previous mondeo being a 1.8 tdci getting 41mpg arround town only very minor niggle is the power delivery is not as sharp as 2.0tdci on set off but once turbo kicks in it sets off quickly and if you keep in the rev range just keeps going. having 6 gears and cruise control makes it excelent for long journeys, seats are also very comfortable with pleanty of leg room, build quality seems excelent and boot space is enormous !!

Mondeo man is a thing of the past

FORD MONDEO 2.2 TDCi Titanium X Sport 5dr (Review date: 16th January '12)

This is the best car i have ever owned. I love the fact that everything is automatic, you dont have to think about it the car does it for you.

Lights, wipers come on automaticaly and the wipers get faster the harder it rains.

Handling and speed are very good for what is, essentially a family car, albeit top of the range.

The only thing i think could be improved on this car is the heater which, when left on automatic, does not seem capable of achieving the desired temperature quickly, especially in winter.

That being my only gripe, i would defenitely consider this car again when the time comes to renew.

Even better than expected

FORD MONDEO 2.2 TDCi Titanium X Sport 5dr (Review date: 16th January '12)

This is a fantastic car, drives like its on rails but comfortable despite the sport settings of this model. Engine is very fast but still returns around 45mpg. All the gadgets and gizmos inside make it a really enjoyable cabin to spend time in

Love it!

wow ! A really nice car to drive

FORD MONDEO 2.0 TDCi 140 Edge 5dr (Review date: 8th November '11)

Ok so lets get the obvious bad stuff out of the way. An idiot was let loose in the design department and was allowed to shape the boot hatch and hence drench us all !! Also the trim around the centre console is made from the least scratch resistant material known to man. The radio has a minor fault and the car creaks like tea clipper at sea when it goes over a bump..... BUT.... I love this car !! Brakes are not as nice as german cars, too uneven, but not that bad really....maybe I am just fussy.

Its engine is more fun and balanced than the VW equivalents ( that are "over turbo'd" imo ), the cabin is well equiped and nice to sit in. The steering is amazing for a Ford. My other car is a 3 series tourer and obviously that mile better for build quality but the Ford put a smile on my face for reasons I can't fathom. I would never ever buy a new Ford but am happy as larry with this prestine ex-lease 100K beauty.... £5000 well spent indeed....
