FORD ESCORT RS 2000 4x4 3dr (Review date: 14th September '12)
i owned my rs2k for 6yrs it was much loved and often a underated rs compered to the other rs fords of that era it never let me down during my ownership it came with the legendary recaro interior subtle styling and cracking performance and handling showed up many more modern cars during my ownership ha ha but sadly started to sucumb to the main problems with fords of that era RUST mainly around rear arches and the chassis rails if you are to own one of these cracking cars i would buy on body condition rather than mileage as if the engine has been looked after and regulary servcied mine every 6k then it will run forever the engines that are looked after are bullet prove and just love to be rev'ed and boy do they go all round great car just beware they tend to rust in the usual ford areas of that time
A Pleasure to Own
FORD ESCORT 1.6 Finesse 5dr (Review date: 19th April '12)
I have had my Escort 1.6 for 2 years and bought it when i had just started a family. I needed something that could cope with a big car seat, a large full sized pram and lots of shopping! It feels safe to drive my family around, has a bit of power when i am feeling a bit racey but tootles along just nice the rest of the time. It will always start without an issue, and it's ok on insurance for me, repairs are cheap and you can always buy re-conditioned parts for an escort so in that respect its very cheap to run, fuel is ok provided your driving for more than 10 mins at a time otherwise you sit on the choke and use shed loads of petrol. Its Apr 2012 and baring in mind i drive no more than 1 mile to work it costs about £20 for about 90 miles. You get much more mileage when you drive further in one go, hope that makes sense. Definately recommend.
Oldie but Goodie
FORD ESCORT 1.6 Flight 5dr (Review date: 15th February '12)
I've had my Ford Escort for a number of years now. What I like about it is that it's cheap to run, insure and repair, never breaks down, requires the minimum of maintenance and always gets me where I want to go. It's generally functional and practical, useful if I want to move larger loads or if I just need to pop to the shops. If you need a car to prop up your ego or you think your car "says something about your personality" or some kind of status symbol, then this is not the car for you. This car is about the minimum of fuss.
Good car for someone who can afford it!
FORD ESCORT 1.6i Calypso Cabriolet 2dr (Review date: 22nd January '12)
I havn't had the car very long but i can say its a pleasure to drive.
It starts first time every time and unlike other 1997 cars it doesnt seem to have any trouble with anything.
The roof is still in fantastic condition which im surprised about as its a ford!
It drives just lovely but the suspension seems a bit stiff...maybe its just the age i dont know. Running it...is a bit hideous to be honest as insurance is sky high for me anyhow, and its only a 1.6 but it drinks fuel like theres no tomorrow! or maybe thats just my driving ;)
Its lovely on a sunny day as all windows wind down, even the back ones! and its only a 3 door! Would look a bit silly though bein a convertible if the back windows had to stay up!
On a good note...the car is very robust, it responds lovely to a quick set off and it doesnt even seem to struggle while climbing a hill in 3rd, and i live in Devon!
Great car and i would highly recommend it to anybody who can afford to keep it :)
FORD ESCORT 1.6i Finesse Hatchback 5dr (Review date: 22nd January '12)
i enjoy my car very much and being a ford and its age parts are widely availible and cheap i have had the car nearly a year and have not had to do a lot of work to it. Its a very reliable hasnt ever let me down starts first time even on very cold mornings it is quite good on fuel as well suits me and my family very well only bad point for me is body work can rust very easy just have to keep on top of that but apart fom that it drives good and cheap for me to run
FORD ESCORT 1.6 Encore Hatchback 5dr (Review date: 19th January '12)
The escort is a cheap and cheerful run about. It's starts every morning, first turn of the key. it moves along the road reasonabley smooth. The parts are pretty cheap to buy and really easy to fix. Only problem is the rear aches rot and the painted plastic bumpers, wing mirrors and spoiler are faded.
The Legendary... Escort RS Cosworth
FORD ESCORT 2.0 Luxury 3dr (Review date: 21st September '11)
I have always wanted on of these iconic cars and last summer I got the chance. Have used it as my daily driver now for over 12 months and I have to say its amazing.
Apart from the standard servicing I haven't had to do anything except enjoy it.
Every drive out, whether it be to work or a day trip into the country is an event. Turbo whistle, wastegate flutter and all manner of noises that just remind me of a propper rally car, which this is! Even better the wife hates it and so won't drive it, so I have to drive everywhere we go in it.
Can be a little expensive to run, insurance and super unleaded being the main culprits. However if driven carefully it will return 30mpg on a run and early to mid-twenties in traffic.
Even after 15 years its still up there with the best of them, all the other more modern hot hatches, Audi S3, Astra VXR, Focus RS are still no quicker in a straight line and show the Cossie a back road and nothing will stick to it, its super quick!
Practicality is good too, space for five adults, a good sized boot, four wheel drive for the winter snow and ice, and air-con in case we have a summer.
Overall The Best Car I have ever owned

FORD ESCORT 1.6i Silhouette Cabriolet 2dr (Review date: 20th August '11)
I have gone thru many cars in a matter of few years, I had a Saab convertible before i got my hands on this ford escort convertible. The drive is good and all the electrics are so simple and easy to operate. would prefer leather seats but what the heck, its good on fuel, spacious and has a practical boot.
