We would buy another if we could!

DAIHATSU TERIOS 1.5 SX 5dr (Review date: 9th May '12)

3.8

We bought the Terios as a second car two and a half years ago with 11,000 miles on the clock and in it's second year of a five year warranty.

We were attracted by it's junior 4 x 4 looks, previous experience with Daihatsu and the reputation of the selling dealer.

It has proved an excellent car, its roomy, comfortable and its 4 x 4 drive gives us security on country roads in winter.

The car feeling well planted on the road and is enjoyable to drive.

Economy is in the 35mpg range which for a car of it's type is about bearable.

Negatives, the engine feels strained at high revs and the interior trim could be less scratchy, but hey it's a budget car after all.

If we could buy a new one we would tomorrow!

What more do you want?

DAIHATSU TERIOS 1.5 SX 5dr (Review date: 9th March '11)

Had this vehicle for the last 2 years and it has been a real eye opener. It was bought as a second vehicle for the business and my runabout and has taken everything in its stride, Off road work - no problem, Snow - not a problem, 3 people and work equipment - a little tight but copes admirably. My wife used it all through the winter snow and didnt want to give it back.If you are looking for a small 4x4 that will deal with all sorts of weather, travel in reasonable comfort and be cheap to run look no further.

The best value 4x4 on the market

DAIHATSU TERIOS 1.5 SX 5dr (Review date: 9th January '11)

We have owned this Terios from new and it is by far the best value for money car that we have ever owned. We have not had a problem with the car ever. We have covered 39000 miles and are still on the same set of tyres. The fact that it is a 4 wheel drive makes it even better value for money as in the winter we have used the Terios to get to work rather than our other car (Audi A6 Avant) and have never been stuck. The only issue we have with the car is the lack of power as it is only a 1.5 engine. If there was a bigger engine to choose then we would definately be buying another one.

A toy, or a serious off-roader?

DAIHATSU TERIOS 1.5 SX 5dr (Review date: 11th December '10)

4.8

My line of work takes me all over South and Mid Wales, visiting farms: because of this I have used a couple of 4 wheel drive vehicles, but none have given me the security I feel when driving the Terios. OK, it doesn't look big and beefy like some better known off-roaders, but that's not the point - as, they say "It does exactly what it says on the tin".

I bought the Terios when it was 2 1/2 years old, with less than 9000 miles on the clock - now, after 11 months, it has covered 33000 miles! During that time, it hasn't missed a beat or given me any cause for concern, It was serviced by the dealer in Abergavenny while still under warranty, but now my local garage looks after it for me. Some service parts are a bit pricey - a genuine air filter is over £40 - but the reliability means there are no unexpected bills.

Within a few months of purchase, I had a LPG conversion installed, whose tank takes up a bit of boot space, but the vehicle is so practical and roomy that it doesn't really compromise the capacity.

The four wheel drive system is good - very good, and for that added security, there is a central diff lock to get you out of tricky situations. The standard equipment knocks spots off many other 4 wheel drive models: central locking, electric windows, aircon, CD player, ABS etc etc.

During this last few weeks when snow and ice have been causing problems for many, the Terios never got stuck in spite of temperatures down to minus 12 in Mid Wales.

OK, the economy could be better - about 35 mpg on petrol, and 28 mpg on gas - but when taking everything into account it is a great value off -roader.

I think the biggest problem for others who may want to buy a Terios is the lack of new models being imported - according to the dealer, due to the strong yen - I wonder!! I am told that there may be a diesel on the cards - now that will be a vehicle worth waiting for!!
