BMW 5 SERIES 535d SE 4dr Auto (Review date: 28th October '11)
I have owned two BMW 5 series in the space of 3 years. a 520i and now a 535d. Both amazing cars. They handle brilliantly, smooth on the road and look fantastic too.
The smaller engine 520 petrol was very good on fuel, i never actually checked my average MPG but i could go from London to Manchester and back on ONE full tank. Now that impressive. The bigger engine on the 535d is also very good. I average about 25-32 MPG. on long trips on the motorway i have got 50mpg driving very carefully.
Boot space is amazing, two full sized suit cases and a small bag can comfortably fit in there. I'd recommend leather seats if you have a family as spillages are easier to clean up, however i do not allow any form of food or drink in my car!
Obviously in tersm of performace the 535d is much more powerful, on demand you get amazing power, with a full car this is definately needed.
Maintanance of this car is expensive however i have a BMW specialist mechanic whos work is far better than BMW dealership! competeitive prices and he know his BMWs therefore i get all my work done by him, and i dont trust peoiple with my car often so when i find a reliable and good mechanic i stick to them.
all in all i will give the BMW 535d a 5 out of 5

My 5th 5 series.. This is a 535D Had the engine remapped i think it now has 350 BHP..
Phenomenal.. Just goes and never stops for air.. Performance wise a true supercar Hardly anything can touch it for acceleration.. All that and 40 mpg drive sedately and 50 mpg..
I may keep this one Lemans blue a future classic I think and how can I better it.. Its perfection..
Not dead keen on the new 5 shape.. They've taken out a few of the angles on my 07 one so its more jelly mouldish.. Maybe it will grow on me.. I am sure its a fantastic car..
Mine will do me for the forseeable future JGT

BMW 530d M Sport, (sport option with Paddle gear shift)
BMW 5 SERIES 530d M Sport 4dr Step Auto (Review date: 3rd October '11)
GRATE CAR, amazing in every way, and for something under 15K an absolute dream. Low consumption, amazing power, grip and torque, a great car all round.
make sure you buy one with FULL BMW service history, and it will not let you down. I have just done 7k in 8 weeks never had a problem with it went through 10 countries al the way to Greece and back again. I highly recommend this car, ALSO look out for the added sport option on the M sport/ i.e. paddle gear shift, and sport diff. which comes as an extra. Grate car.
AMAZING CAR ALL ROUND. Go for 530d M sport (sport option with Paddle gear shift) and make sure it has BMW Service history, if it doesnt dont bother no matter how cheap it may be.
Thanks, good luck.
The greatest Saloon ?

What a car!!
BMW 5 SERIES 530i SE 4dr Auto (Review date: 13th September '11)
This is an absolutely gorgeous vehicle. Its sophisticated, spacious, a very smooth drive, incredibly reliable and very practical. I can use it for work, leisure, school runs, shopping, caravaning (it has a tow bar!). Its spacious enough for 3 children at the back and two adults in the front. Its a big engine so at 3 litres of superb German engineering with the reliability and robustness that comes with the brand it canot be flawed - I have had no problems with this vehicle.
It has conditional servicing which means you are not hit with a huge servicing bill. Its so good, my next car is also a 5 series BMW but newer and a diesel - this is primarily due to the high rise of fuel costs hence why I have given this car 3 stars on running costs.
Its a great vehicle - would highly recommend it.
Best car we've ever driven!

This has been ,without doubt, the most comfortable and pleasant car to drive we have ever had.It has also been the most economical to run. Two weeks ago we drove all the way to Scarborough and back , from Chelmsford and only used just over half a tank. Not bad in this day and age.We also fit 4 suitcases in the boot with ease.A pleasure to drive the only con is that we cannot take our dog out in it with us (a doberman)
