Audi A2 - bigger than you think
AUDI A2 1.4 SE 5dr (Review date: 10th March '11)
I bought my A2 as a commuter - I wanted a reliable car which was cheap to run. I've been very impressed with it. Although designed in the late 90s, it feels very modern even today. It has the mini-MPV shape, so the seat height and roof are high and there's plenty of space inside. Our other car is an 07 Civic and although narrower, the A2 is more spacious inside. It's certianly my first choice for trips around town. The build quality is also excellent - right up there with the A3 and A4. The ride quality is better than the Civic too, especially on bumpy roads. There are two downsides - the 1.4 petrol is OK around town, but lacks power on the open road; secondly, the engine management light has a habit of coming on and going off. The car has never missed a beat in 7000 miles, but the warning light is mysterious. I love the alluminium body - the doors feel light and perfectly manufactured. The front lights are cool, but the general front aspect is a little too cute. It's a car I would consider keeping for a long long time, especially with the 50mpg I've been getting!
Still going strong after 8 years
AUDI A2 1.4 SE 5dr (Review date: 10th March '11)
Now in our 8th year of ownership and with nearly 80,000 miles on the clock I think we have given the A2 a pretty good test drive.
Driving carefully we get 50 to the gallon out of our 1.4 petrol, the interior is light and spacious for 4, and with the rear seats removed it is as practical as a small van.
Last year I did a mammoth 600 miles in one day, and to be honest, I could easily have driven for a few more hours.
Really easy to park, good light steering, and in our 8 years of ownership, we have only had to replace a couple of sensors, and front brake disks.
We like it so much, we are going to buy a 2nd one.
Best Economical Car
AUDI A2 1.4 SE 5dr (Review date: 9th March '11)
This car is very quirky, economical, average insurance, in the summer this car is fab as it has a glass sliding sunroof that goes most of the way back and lets in plenty of rays and heat when going for a lovely long drive, Every other person i see in a Audi A2 they always acknowledge you which is very funny too, These cars are no longer in production so if you have one then look after it and hang on to it as long as possible.
They are so much better than an average car as you sit that little bit higher up and getting back into a normal car makes you feel like you are sat on the floor .
They are very light as made of aluminium, they have a big dash but it makes you feel very protected when on the road. Plus i love the way the bonnet comes all the way off or you can fill oil and water without having to take the bonnet off.
Defantly a must have car if you ever get the chance to be the proud owner of one like me.
a joy after a few weeks of a Korean sardine can
AUDI A2 1.6 FSI SE 5dr (Review date: 6th March '11)
I bought the best car I've ever own after a horrible waste of money last year. I came into just enough money to buy a small new car under the srappage scheme. The result was a little piece of Korean nastiness. I got rid of it after 6weeks and bought Ulysees, my marvellous Audi. I've done a big mileage in a year, but have had only minor problems. I love the looks, the ride, the effortless high spped cruising. The finish is really good -as you'd expect from a quality brand. Moral: buy at the lower end of a top brand rather than the top end of standard stuff. Love it.
A2 1.4 Tdi SE 75.
AUDI A2 1.4 TDI SE 5dr (Review date: 6th March '11)
Have owned my 2001 '51 plate SE tdi for 5 years and 55,000 miles. It has never let me down and regularly achieves mid 60s mpg. With care I can get over 70 mpg with a best of 76 mpg on a full tank, not a single journey!
Great build quality and very practical for a small car. I've even managed to take a King size mattress to the tip!
Downsides are few; suspension is harsh and has gone through a few drop links, engine a little vocal and had to replace the comfort/convenience module but it's over 9 years old and has 85,000 miles on the clock so can't complain much.
I cannot think of anything that I would swap this car for, it still looks classy and was an eco car long before the current crop of eco cars were conceived yet still matches or betters most of them.

AUDI A2 1.4 TDI 5dr (Review date: 3rd March '11)
Once you get over the quirky aspects of the way this car looks, its a car ahead of its time. Nippy in town, with strong acceleration, and quite at 65-70 on the motorway, this is a good car for commuting.
It returns 58 to 65 MPG normally, and has 30,000 mile service interval. (or every 2 years). At the same time, its roomy. 4 or 5 passengers are comfortable, and with the back seat down large items fit easily (I've carried dishwasher, large tv etc with ease).
On the safety front it has 4 airbags, Seat belt pretensioners, and ABS and traction control. Luxury touches are Audi Symphony sound system, and Electronic climate control.
I wouldnt class it as a good long distance car, niether can you get more than about 2 suitcases in if you have the family onboard. But for local use or commuting, I think its great.
Audi A2 1.4 Tdi + Skylight
AUDI A2 1.4 TDI 5dr (Review date: 16th February '11)
This is the best reliable second hand car i have ever own and very economical for city drive and motorways averaging 55mpg. I have owned the car for over four years and i don't think i will get rid of it. At first i was very suspicious since it has been discontinued by Audi. But i came to realise that the body is all aluminium and that compensates to the gross weight.
Tip: Avoid the petrol models problems.
