You can purchase Third Party, Third Party Fire & Theft and Fully Comprehensive insurance policies with Auto Trader Car Insurance.
Third Party cover only pays out for any costs involved if you injure someone or damage their car in an accident that is your fault. It can be the cheapest insurance option and is popular if you have an older vehicle.
Third Party Fire & Theft covers you for third party (as above), but also covers you for repairs or a replacement car if yours is stolen or damaged by fire.
Fully Comprehensive is the most popular type of cover - you get Third Party, Fire & Theft cover, plus any repairs to your car if it is damaged in an accident. Plus Auto Trader Insurance offers†: 60 days cover when driving in the EU, windscreen replacement (£75 excess applies), £5,000 personal accident cover, a courtesy car while yours is being repaired (subject to availability and eligibility), monthly payment options, up to £100 cover for your personal belongings and up to £200 for medical expenses.
You will need the following details to get a quote with Auto Trader Car Insurance:
- Your personal details (name, address, date of birth, occupation etc)
- Email address
- Car make and model
- Registration number (although you can get a quote without it)
- Amount of no-claims discount you have
- Details of any claim and convictions you have
- Type of insurance cover you require
- Information about what your vehicle will be used for (eg. business, social, commuting to work)
- Estimated annual mileage
- Full details of additional drivers
Your Auto Trader Car Insurance policy covers those you have listed as named drivers when you took out your policy. If you want to add other drivers for up to 14 days, please contact us and we can add them as a temporary driver, providing they meet the underwriting criteria. Our system will calculate the extra charge for this service.
An original copy of your renewal notice, policy schedule or letter from your previous insurer should be sent to us. This document should show the expiry date of your previous policy, the name of the driver who earned the no-claims discounts and the no-claims discount entitlement in years or percentage. Details of where you need to send the proof will be included in your policy information pack.
You can choose to pay for your car insurance online with a credit or debit card, or you can set up a direct debit to pay in monthly instalments.
Alternatively, you can buy your policy over the phone by calling us on the number shown with your quote reference number.
