March is on the horizon and with it, comes Spring, a time for new beginnings and maybe a new car? Next month also brings in the new registration plate, so some dealers will be keen on moving their old 62-plate stock before next month which means that there are some really good deals out there. These are the best that we’ve found.

Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 ecoFLEX S 3dr
Perfect for running about town or as a first car for the offspring, the Vauxhall Corsa has a common sight on British roads. Reliable, practical, stylish and reasonably good to drive, it makes for an excellent choice and this example comes with all the requisite kit. It has a CD player, electric windows, two airbags and remote central locking. Most impressively, it’s on sale at Evans Halshaw Hull, for £7,946, which is a saving of £3,679 on the list price. It’s pre-registered and has just 100 miles under its wheels so it represents a very good bargain indeed.

Peugeot 508 2.0 HDi 163 Active
Peugeot’s handsome 508 saloon may not have the driving appeal of a Ford Mondeo or the brand cache of the BMW 3 Series or Audi A4 but it is an entirely competent car in its own right. Comfortable, spacious and efficient, it ticks most people’s boxes. This one, from JCT600 Peugeot, Hull, comes with plenty of kit such as air-con, cruise-control a radio/CD/MP3 player and Xenon headlamps. It’s finished in an attractive metallic black hue and, best of all, comes with a smooth and efficient 2.0-litre diesel engine. This one is even more desirable, as it comes with £5,405 off its list price. What a bargain.

Volvo XC60 D4 AWD R-Design NAV
Volvo’s XC60 crossover is a stylish and attractive alternative to the German big players in this sector, such as the Audi Q3 and BMW X3. Volvo’s USP has always been its safety and the fact that it’s not one of the ubiquitous Teutonic brands. This example, from Paul Rigby Volvo in Birmingham, looks especially good in black, with chrome detailing contrasting nicely. It’s got just 10 miles on the clock and comes with lots of toys such as sat-nav, heated front seats, High-Performance Audio, rear parking sensors and tinted glass at the back. The best bit about it, however is the price – £28,500, which represents a £7,470 saving on list.

Mercedes C220 CDI Coupe BlueEFFICIENCY AMG Sport
The stylish Mercedes C-Class coupe may be somewhat overlooked next to its marginally more dynamically capable rival, the BMW 3 Series Coupe but it really is an excellent car in its own right. It’s handsome, smooth, comfortable and, in this spec, very economical. This red example, from Mercedes-Benz Chesterfield, comes with all the kit you could want, including the desireable AMG bodykit. It also comes with 18-inch alloys, cruise control, leather & cloth upholstery, DAB radio, Bi-xenon headlights and rain sensitive wipers. The best bit, though? It’s been reduced from £34,320 to £27,990. That’s a saving of £6,330.

Ford B-Max 1.0 Ecoboost Zetec
Ford’s ingenious B-Max MPV continues the company’s recent tradition for making very, very good cars that work on many different levels. It looks good, is practical and drives surprisingly well. The lack of a B-pillar combined with sliding rear doors means that there is a huge rear aperture, making it a doddle to get shopping/children in and out of it (especially in a busy car park).  This Frozen White example comes with a host of goodies, such as DAB radio, air-con, 15-inch alloy wheels, MP3 and AUX connectivity and plenty of handy little cubby holes. It’s also the safest small MPV on sale, according to Euro NCAP. This one, from PW Millar Ford in Barry, South Wales, is on sale for £13,395 – a saving of £2,800 over its list price.
