• First diesel ‘S’ model
• Costs from £43,870
• First deliveries in Spring next year

The Audi SQ5 is now available to order. The sports 4×4 is the first diesel-powered Audi to wear the ‘S’ prefix.

Over and above the standard Q5, the ‘S’ model gets a lowered ride height and 20-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels. The deeper front grille, with horizontal chrome strips aims to emphasis the car’s sporting credentials and the lowered ride height helps to give it a more purposeful stance. The new model also gets quad tailpipes and a roof spoiler.

Inside, the car is predominately trimmed in black and comes equipped with nappa leather sports seats as well as an ‘S’ steering wheel. Standard equipment includes a 180 watt stereo system with a 6.5-inch colour monitor which is operated via Audi’s MMI operating system. The car also gets Bluetooth connectivity, three-zone climate control, cruise control, light and rain sensors as well as parking sensors.

Under the bonnet, the SQ5 is equipped with a 309bhp version of Audi’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel V6. This sends its 479lb/ft of torque to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The suspension has also been beefed up to help cope with the extra power and give the SQ5 a more sporting feel. The new car is capable of accelerating to 62mph in 5.1 seconds and will continue on to a limited top speed of 155mph. Despite the performance on offer, the SQ5 is still capable of 41mpg and will only emit 179g/km of CO2.

The SQ5 is available to order now, costing from £43,870. The first deliveries are expected to arrive in Spring 2013.
