• £24,995 price tag for Subaru’s all new sports car
• Generous levels of standard equipment
• Comprehensive after-care package

Subaru has announced full price and specification details for its forthcoming BRZ sports car.

With an entry level price of £24,995, the BRZ will compete directly with its sister car, the Toyota GT-86, which was originally expected to be the cheaper of the two.

Two variants will initially be launched: the 2.0i SE and the 2.0i SE Lux, which starts at £27,995.

Powered by a 2.0-litre boxer engine, the BRZ has been eagerly anticipated as the return of the affordable sports car. With a compact, rear-wheel-drive layout, light weight and a standard fit limited slip differential for optimised traction, it has plenty of appeal for keen drivers.

A six-speed manual gearbox is fitted as standard, with a six-speed, paddle-shift operated automatic available for £1,500.

Standard equipment includes electric heated and folding door mirrors, keyless go, cruise control, dual-zone air-con, a six-speaker audio system with iPod connectivity and a leather-trimmed steering wheel, handbrake and gear-knob.

SE Lux models are further specified with heated leather seats.

The options list comprises of just two items: Pioneer sat-nav at £1,000 and the option of a special paint finish at £500.

The BRZ also comes with Subaru’s comprehensive ETCo aftercare package at no extra cost. It covers alloy wheel and bodywork scratch repair, a monthly wash, annual valet, lost key replacement, service collection and delivery as well as including first year MOT cover and an accident management service. It is included on top of the car’s standard three-year/60,000 mile manufacturer warranty.

The Subaru BRZ arrives in UK showrooms this summer
